new site I am working on.. (Famicom related)

http://www.disk-kun.com/

At first it is going to house scans and info about the various handbills, but later on it will expand to Disk Writer manuals and Konami cards (cards that were packaged with their FDS games -- most of them anyway).

I still have quite a number of handbills to scan, but I thought I'd see what you all thought so far?!

Thanks,
Carl

  • Oh WOW. These are so great, thanks for sharing! I love looking at these.

Since you're looking for feedback: personally I would have scanned them a bit larger. Given the high resolution of monitors these days, they look pretty dinky. I really can't complain though, you never see this stuff scanned at all, I'm totally happy with what's here.

Do you have the handbill with Donkey Kong Music Education on it? It would be cool to get some super high-res scans of the screenshots.

    Thanks!

Here is the issue with scanning them a bit larger:
    1) The site is designed with a max width of 1024px so that anyone can view the site; even with people with smaller monitors
    2) Run the risk of people using the scans, if larger, to reproduce these; thus deflating the value of them entirely.

I do not have the handbill with DK Music on it.  I've only ever seen one of them and it sold in the neighborhood of $600.  I still have some others to scan though.

  • #1 makes sense, and I hadn't considered #2. I'll be looking forward to more, thanks again for sharing.
  • great looking site so far Carl, keep up the good work image
  • #2- watermark?

I could, but I think you get plenty of detail in their current size without watermarking them.  Plus watermarks could take away some of their visual appeal.  I know I get annoyed when I go to a site and am trying to make out what is behind/through the watermark.
  • i like it!

That is a fabulous game.  Zelda-mold but with Ninja's and an insane difficulty.
  • Great, bookmarked

I would like bigger pics too, but as you said, you have your motives to keep then down

Ps: may we could ask for you pm some of these in larger resolution? some of then would make really cool posters for my room ^^
  • Great idea, awesome site, ckendal! I love the Ninja Ryukenden II handbill, the artwork is definitely catchy!

By the way, what is that Arumana no Kiseki games? It seems Indiana Jones related, if not inspired.

I have some Famicom related stuff that I plan on scanning. I am hoping that NintendoAge will open up a section for this sooner, rather than later. If not, I could always send you the scans if you'd like image.
