DiscountGames Bidding Aliases

If anyone is interested in knowing, I have done some investigating into which names Discountgames uses to bid on NES lots on eBay. This son of a bitch always outbids me, so I think everyone needs to be aware of the aliases they use. Right now the primary one they are using is:

1999Shelby, and another one (which I believe is no longer registered) is kewlkittycat.

Together we can put an end to their domination of winning every NES lot on eBay!

  • Actually I think just about everyone knows discountgames other ids. I know it gets frustrating with resellers buying up most of the big lots but If there trying to make a living doing it they are going to be buying up the big lots. I wont pay the prices they ask for a lot of stuff but I say more power to them if they can find jokers to pay what they want for some auctions. Im not a fan of resellers but ebay is open to everyone and anyone can start a ebay store and run a business. I know from selling stuff I wouldnt want to try and do it for a living. But anyway no matter how much I like or dislike resellers thay do have the right to do what they do.
  • okay, well I am exaggerting a little (at least about putting an end to their reign of terror) but I think another reason why most of these lots go for big money at times is because of collectors too. I collect too, but resell mainly the good-selling commons, ie tyson punch out, contra, marios, etc. But I think everyone should know who is outbidding them (if they don't already) because when discountgames was using kewlkittycat last year, it drove me insane every time I got outbid.
  • I think everyone on here knows discountgames' ID's already, I know I did.

  • I think this is really not all the surprising -- this is their line of business, so they have to keep a solid inventory. Sometimes you may wonder why they bid so much on lots that you know they couldn't be making a profit from; it's not about individual-lot profit IMO, but more about having a solid selection for users to choose from. The more they have, the more likely buyers are to purchase multiple items, which is their bread and butter. Buying up so many lots (1,000's per month) also drives more business to their listings. For discountgames/1999Shelby/kewlkittykat, it's all about ebay presence -- he tries to keep as many active listings as possible, creating a pseudo monopoly. If he's got 40% of all NES listings, he'll likely get 40% of the NES business, which is massive. That's the only reason I can see that he lists 1,000's of dirt-common manuals.
  • hey guys, don't take the post too seriously, it was pretty much a joke, and me unloading some frustration. Soooo..... I just thought everyone should know what discountgames uses because it could be useful, that's all. Later players.
  • Well, I knew about 1999Shelby, but I didn't know about the kewlkittykat alias. Does discountgames use any other alias's that I am unaware of?
  • When I first started collecting a few years ago, I bought 25-30 games from DG for somewhere around a 100.00 It was by far the worst experience I've ever had on ebay. I'll spare you the details, but I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone thinking of doing bussiness with them. Don't be tempted by the shipping discount they offer.
  • I disagree. I buy from him 2-3 times a month just to take advantage of his 5 for 9.95 deal. I have always had good experiences with him and got everything I have paid for. Now DKoldies is a different story anymore....

  • ANyone interested can go to their website and find pictures of their operations. discountgames.org Pretty interesting. Could be run better though. They hemorrhage money the way they spend on listing fees and operating costs. If the pics are no longer there ( I haven't checked in a while) let me know and I'll post them. Also, they have been for sale for a couple of months now. The first $1 mil takes it!
