Space Invaders on NES.....finally

Finally got it done....and have enjoyed a classic sprite on a 61" TV for a couple weeks now.

The high def doesn't come out too well, though! I hope the pix come through.

  • Earlyworm -

Looks sweet!! You got any more copies you want to sell???

    Be well -

  • Same as what MLN said... I'm a fan of the Space Invaders series image .
  • Wow did you code this? Definitely hope to snag a copy if they become available.
  • Add me to the list of people wishing to purchase a copy, if it becomes available..

Now if someone could just port over Frogger, I would be set...

  • Line me up for a copy too if you will have any in the future for sale.Judging by this thread if you made around 50 copies they would sell pretty fast and you could make some $$.
  • I want one too, or just the Rom file.

I'm thinking of getting the PowerPak.....

    Edit:

Thanks for the tip EarlyWorm, I've allready ordered Space Invaders + two Gyromite.

One to modify and one for my collection. image
  • hey...I appreciate the interest in buying this beasty, but I am not much of a tech. This was an easy-to-make project that each of you can do on your own and save dollars.

It is nothing more than a Famicom Space Invaders plugged into a gyromite/stackup pin convertor.

Order the Famicom cart from Japan for about $15 to $20 shipped. Open it up and pull out the gameboard. Open up a gyromite or stackup or etc..and take out the gameboard and pin convertor together.

Unplug the gameboard from the pin convertor, then plug in the Space invaders gameboard. Reassemble. Apply label. Takes every bit of 10 minutes. The label is a bit of a pain to make, but I would be happy to make it available....(my wife made it for me).

I do this for fun...not money.

And again...Thanks for the interest! I knew somebody else would have to think this was cool.
  • Very cool cart -- congrats on the project!

(As a side note, if anyone is interested in Gyromite's with converters, I've got 5 or 6 of them for sale. PM me if interested.)
  • I recently got the VB version of Space Invaders and I have to say I was surprised at how good it was, simple idea but challenging especially in red & black.
I've never been into these arcade games before really, arcades were never a big thing in the UK so I never grew up in them.
  • Hello, Im kinda new on this forum, if you make and forsale, please put me on the list............
  • Looks like there continues to be a high demand for Frogger on the NES. Eventually someone in-the-know will buckle and start porting it.
  • I would buy both Frogger and Space Invaders if both or either were ever made available.
  • Reading this bunnyboy image New project maybe?

Ditto here. And maybe you, EarlyWorm, could coordinate something with bunnyboy and sell them through his site...? If all else fails, I might actually consider going out and getting a couple Space Invaders and Gyromite carts and seeing what I can do with them image .
  • I would be in for a Frogger! But it was never made for a Famicom....I checked long ago.
  • I know. image Which is why someone needs to get to programming! image
  • I loved swapping out Gyro/adapter carts with some of the extra multicarts I had from my various fami-on-a-chip TV games, they turned out okay. The color's a little funky because I used sharpies instead of any real paint technique, but they're unique just the same. Spent a little time on the labels and they turned out well.

  • I love doing this! Here are my first attempts at doing this:

I have a degree in Graphic Design, so that helps image
  • As for me, when designing a label, I come up with a concept in my head, and simply translate that concept into whatever available program I have. High-resolution printing and scanning helps greatly.
  • I'm a hot-pink-with-lens-flare belt in Photoshop-Fu.
  • i actually made a repro of this game a while ago:

i can make them for 30 bucks (includes shipping) a pop if anyone wants one. you have to send the donor cart though.
  • what cart do you need as a donor
  • coinheaven, Excellent choice taking the old VCS artwork, always been one of my favorite labels of the whole set. I love the classic 70's style image
  • the game requires and "NROM" board. here is the list of the games and mappers:

  • I will probably be taking you up on this offer. Just gotta get a game with the NROM. Looks like it's most of the games released early on.

thanks. finally my atari collection is useful for once.
  • I may have to get one of these as well. The artwork does look very nice. I need to browse over that list for a donor cart.
