Can you beat Star Wars?
I've been working on this game for a few weeks now, and it's not getting much easier. Memorisation really pays off and like most games, once you know what's coming, you fare better.
But, due to punishing, unmerciful level design I can't get past what I think is the third-to-last level.
Once you defeat the dianoga in the trash compactor, you need to get through a Death star stage with acceleration tubes, deadly spikes and troopers all over the place. Make no mistake I thought of whipping the controller through the TV more than once on this level.
Now, last night I managed to somehow scrape by this level after continuing here 8 times (you only get 10 continues total) only to be quickly killed on a first person level fighting TIE fighters.
So, has anyone finished this, and got any tips for the level I am talking about or the TIE sequence?
When I first got into this game I was determined to beat it, now I am getting discouraged.

Looks like I spoke too soon in posting this as I managed to get past the TIE level I was talking about. I really got "into the zone", got past another similar shooter level, then the Death Star trench run sequence.
Pretty great game all around though and definitely a challenge. Beating a hard fought NES game (especially one where you must play through all in one sitting) can be a great feeling indeed.
