Werewolf: The Last Warrior: I played this for a while and for the most part it wasn't too horrible, but one section I died in so many times that I got frustrated and moved on to something else. If I remember right it was an extremely difficult jump where something has a tendancy to knock you off of a tiny ledge.
Adventures of Bayou Billy: For the most part not a bad game. Fighting is alright and shooting is pretty good, but those damned driving stages frustrated me to no end. When those rocks kept popping up out of no where to explode the crap out of my jeep I eventually got pretty pissed and stopped playing.
Empire Strikes Back: I beat the first Star Wars and then immediately tried this. It seems a little bit harder and since I had just spent time on the first one, I think my Star Wars patience was wearing thin.
Solomon's Key: I spent sometime playing this years ago, but at some point I just got bored with it.
None of these are completely given up on. I plan to go back and beat them all one day, but at the moment, they're still in the dog house.
I'm done with Simpsons: Bart vs Space Mutants, crummy jumping mechanics just kills it for me.
Ninja Gaiden I probably should give up on, as I've only gotten past 6-2 a couple of times, and then dying to a boss and restarting way back has caused ragequits, but it's still a pretty fun game. Maybe someday I'll practice the bosses on an emulator with savestates until I can do them to near perfection, and then take another crack at it on the system.
Kickmaster - The last stage is incredible tedious but the one part where you have to dodge those bubbles again (first appeared on the ship level) takes the cake. Maybe I should take another look at the manual regarding power-ups.
Ninj Gaiden 3 - The game is pretty challenging altough easier than, let's say Battletoads. However having limited continues makes the game near impossible.
Years ago I had Ikari Warriors for my NES. Despite my very best efforts, I couldn't even get to the end of the first level! And no, I didn't know about the cheat code that you get unlimited lives at the time.
Zelda II: The adventure of Link is another one. I don't consider it technically a hard game, but its hard if you dont have a strategy guide/walkthrough.
I use to rent it back in the late 90's (from a place like blockbuster), but I would never get past the first level. I dont even think I got the candle, lol, for the first cave (in ruto). Its funny how limited you can be in that game if you dont know what you're doing.
I've been playing it lately from the Wii store, I even got a hammer, lol. Now I'm at the water palace. Thats a game where I want to explore everything.
Ninja Gaiden 3, Battletoads, and the first TMNT. The last one, I got close but never beat it. I'll give it another go soon as for Ninja Gaiden 3, the game is impossible same as Battletoads.
Castlevania 3 has proven to be quite a challenge for me. It was the one Castlevania game I hadn't played much as a kid, and it's certainly the hardest of the bunch. I've only gotten as far as the Haunted Ship, but I haven't given up on it yet.
Battletoads - I will never give up completely but the chance that I will beat it is almost zero. By far the most difficult game in my opinion.
I forgot Bayou Billy. I will never ever play it again. It's a very nice game but I'm sure it' is impossible to beat. Just played it twice but didn't even get through the first level.

Yes.. Zelda II. After years of trying my ass off I finally got the NES Atlas, and made it all the way to Thunderbird... well, as I kid I never really got the "experience points" thing until after I played Dragon Warrior... long story short: I just wasn't strong enough to kill Thunderbird.

Some of the enemies in Link II are brutal, far harder than anything in the mario series, or mega man. Like the blue knights, those guys are murder. Even the standard red knights I dont look forward to beating. But I feel more confident that I can get to the end of this game than I would one of the castlevanias, ninja gaiden, or super ghouls and ghosts.

I've managed to get real far in it after watching both Roth's Nes tips video and some playthroughs of the game on youtube. I tried for nearly a month off and on but those driving stages last forever and the shooting sections require you to play it perfect because there's no way to shield yourself from the enemies firing on you. The beat em' up sections require you to move around like a spastic idiot and cheese the jump kick move constantly. The game isn't impossible, it's just I can't see why anyone would have the time and dedication to actually master it. It really is a game that is made nearly unplayable from it's difficulty.
The game that I am now going to cast aside for a while is Darkman. Damn it this game is pissing me off! I havent made it past the second bad guy that you encounter! The jumping ability of your character is next to zero, either he jumps too far, or barely at all, and he cannot fight his way out of a paper bag! I really want to like this game, and they hyped it in NP magazine, but jesus! I cant get anywhere on this game! And whats the deal with the Balance meter when trying to walk across a ledge (or rope, whatever it is)?

Ocean made alot of shittily designed games, Darkman, Robocop 2, and Platoon being the main offenders. I hate Robocop 2 with a passion and it's one game that I will never play again except maybe in hell.
Yeah they did... I cant figure why NP kissed their asses. They werent a big developer back in the day, and im sure both of the other games you mentioned were both featured as well.

Robocop 2 was such a fucked up game! You played the first level destroying boxes of drugs, many of them hidden and got to the end of level one where it tells you that because you didn't destroy all of said drugs, you have to blast through a pain in the ass shooting gallery and if you don't score really well on that, then you play the first level in a loop. It's really hard, like I spent two decades and I can't get past the first level hard.
I just gave up on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Twice, TWICE, I have been almost to the bridge to take down Mola Rom and I get killed by something stupid like a bat and have to start back over at level 9. The game is totally beatable, but the cheap deaths make it NO FUN to keep beating your head against the wall trying to do so. Plus, that stupid Wave 10 is more a game of luck than skill. There comes a point when difficulty and fun cancel each other out, this is it. Cheap deaths make an otherwise good game a trite piece of poo.
I may return some day when I have calmed down, but this game has inspired me to violence and must be set aside.
I love Ninja Gaidens but except for the 2nd. Can't beat NG1 and 3. I have beaten TMNT 2 and 3 and can't beat the first one and I have wasted hours that amounted to days in that one. Not giving up on that one, I really want to win it, every so often I pull it out and try again. There are a few dozen more I can't beat but don't want to embarrass myself too much and mentioning the ones others can't win either, makes me feel better. I have much better success at Sega Genesis games than the NES and SNES, lol.
Another one is Dick Tracy, WOW...that game made my thumb hurt so bad from driving around dodging snipers to the side scrolling shooting. Also, Dragon's Lair and Conan spent like 2 mins on each and shut it off.
I am the worst NES player known to man... I realised years ago I will never rescue Peach...on SMB3 even warping I couldn't ever get past the air ship to get to Bowser....

I've been playing Conan lately, the game isn't the greatest by any stretch but it's not bad after the cave level. You do need an FAQ to figure out alot of what to do, like the second stage boss where I kept dying instantly. Once you figure out the quirks, s'all right! One game I can never beat is Zombies ate my Neighbors, you get passwords but it doesn't save the items in your inventory, you just got to either play the game right through or in like two sittings.
Death is f-ing impossible for me in Castlevania 1. I can get to him no problem but EVERYTIME he kick's my ass. I know there's some glitch where you throw the holy water on him and it prevents him from moving, but when I try that I do it wrong and he starts flying around with those god-damn sythes. Also level 6-2 in Ninja Gaiden 1 is the pixel embodiement of Hitler
