What are the top ten rarest NES games & price check.

Luckily, I've got some excess money to spend on NES games.

I'm wondering if I can afford any of the rarest games. Let me know. Of course NWC's are on the top of the list (at least I think). Thanks guys. Include 1 through 10 list and just an estimate you'd think they'd go for. I want to try and get a unique NES game with this cash.

I do realize it's impossible to get it down to top 10, what I mean is just name the top ten you know of and the way you'd order them. Thanks guys!

  • loose, sealed, cib, cart only?
  • 1. Stadium Events

2.Flintstones 2: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak

    3. Little Samson

    others of note:

    Bonk's Adventures

    Panic Restaurant

    Power Blade 2

you can get an estimate of prices in the most current NA newsletter or ebay completed items.
  • Go with little samson its not to expensive and is a great game

you can get it for 85 or so
  • ^If you're talking licensed, you're still missing Bubble Bobble 2 Adam, but pretty good list as it is.

Neil, download any of the e-Zines to see the loose prices for all NES games, no need for price estimates here if that's what you are shopping around for.

And there are multiple unlicensed games beat the pants off of any licensed NES game except the special case of Stadium Events, without a doubt.
  • I can't remember the exact rarity/price for each but minus the NWCs these are the ones that I considered in the top 10

    1. Stadium Events

    2. Myriad

    3. Hot Slots

    4. Bubble Bath Babes

    5. Peek a Boo Poker

    6. Caltron

    7. Cheetahmen II

    8. Flintstones 2

    9. Bubble Bobble 2

    10. Action 52 (debateable if should be on list)

That's a pretty good list if you ask me.

The last three on the list can be found for less then $150 apiece loose, so those would be good starting points.

    Good luck with your search.
  • I'd probably replace A52 with Secret Scout myself, but it's tough to tell.
  • Thanks a bunch guys. Bunch of help so far. I'd prefer CIB or better. But if I could get a loose copy of very limited produced game that would be great as well. I'll check out the e-Zines although I'm not familiar yet. I can't wait to enhance my collection. image
  • I'd put the Maxi15 above the Action 52 myself.
  • i dunno. action 52 price has been going up a lot.
  • e-Zines, explain please. Thanks in advance.

Where can I find them & prices?
  • Well if u want CIB,then i would replace Action 52 OR BB2 with Chubby Cherub, because of the rarity.
  • The e-Zine is avaliable for free. You find it on the NA home page at www.nintendoage.com or you can just click on the NA logo on the top left of the page.

You may have to scroll down just a hair on the main page to find it. The latest issue has some great articles about screw variants and NFR carts.
  • Stadium Events

    Flintstones 2

    Bubble Bobble Part 2

    Little Samson

    Panic Restaurant

    Snow Brothers

Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers 2

    Duck Tales 2

    Dragon Warrior IV

    Silent Service
  • Thanks again. I downloaded a few e-Zines now. image Read just a bit but great so far.

Anyone want to explain why Stadium Events is such a rare game? CIB price?

Like why are they going for $200 on ebay loose. But the e-Zine claims it's 1,200 loose?
  • Super mario Duckhunt

    Silent Service

    Golf

    1942

    blaster master

    Dr J & MR H

    Dragon Warrior

    Othello

    DR Mario

    Tetris

  • It was released with Bandai's own running pad, before the Power Pad was created. Nintendo liked the idea and bought it off Bandai, and made Bandai recall all of their pads and software so Nintendo could rerelease it.

Stadium Events was released as World Class Track Meet, and very few of the originals pre-recall exist.

Especially because it wasn't bundled with the pad - a different game - Athletic World was the one sold with the pad (and is almost as rare to find complete with the original Bandai packaging)

The loose one you're seeing is PAL - it was released overseas (called the PAL market) and is considerably more common to find in that format. There are label and program differences from the NTSC (north american) one that's the rarest.

The e-Zine only covers NTSC prices.
  • James - your list is spot on... ROFL

You can also go into the game database here and click on the rarity leverl to sort everything by rarity. Look at the 9s and 10s. If you're looking for something sealed (because I think you're a sealed collector) these rarities might not align quite right.
  • The "rarest" ones to grab :

    Stadium Events

    Myriad 6-In-1

Flintstones : The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak

    Hot Slots

    Peek-A-Boo Poker

    Bubble Bath Babes

    Caltron 6-In-1

    Cheetahmen II

Those that might cost you a big chunk of change to acquire CIB Mint :

    Donkey Kong Jr. Math

    Chubby Cherub

    Family Fun Fitness Athletic World

    Little Samson

    Bubble Bobble Part 2

    Bonk's Adventure

    Sqoon

    Secret Scout
  • ^Thanks a bunch. I like the idea of getting Bubble Bath Babes. But I'd probably end up playing and drooling over that game 24/7. xD

hehe, what can I say? Things that are sealed appeal to me so much. image
  • NWC Grey Cart - What price do you think I could buy it at? Or are the current owners refusing to ever sell?
  • IF you can find a seller... 6k.

I notice a lot of Panic Restraunts on the list. I can get a pretty mint CIB for $100 CAD locally. Is that a deal. Sorry to jack your thread Neil.

$100 is a great deal IMO. I'm paying $150 for mine.
  • By CIB rarity and assuming low-end collector quality (8/10 condition), my top 10:

    1. Stadium Events (R10/$10,000+)

    2. 6-in-1 Myriad (R10/$2500-$3500)

    3. Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak (R9/$1000-$1200)

    4. Hot Slots (R9/$1000-$1200)

    5. Peek-a-Boo Poker (R9/$1000)

    6. Bubble Bath Babes (R9/$1000)

    7. Cheetahmen II (R9/$700)

    8. 6-in-1 Caltron (we'll assume black back label, since it's the more common variant, versus the royal blue back label (i.e. not the one Robe24 has been selling); R9/$800 w/questionnaire)

    9. Chubby Cherub (cart is fairly common, btw; R9/$400)

    10. Donkey Kong Jr. Math (cart is fairly common; R9/$400)

Other rarer CIBs, in order, 11-20:

    11. Sqoon (R9/$175)

    12. Athletic World (Family Fun Fitness) (cart is fairly common; R9/$300)

    13. Little Samson (R8/$250)

    14. Secret Scout (R8/$200)

    15. Mario's Time Machine (R8/$100)

    16. Pro Sport Hockey (R8/$150)

    17. Panic Restaurant (R8/$125)

    18. Bonk's Adventure (R8/$200)

    19. Color a Dinosaur (R8/$150)

    20. Power Blade 2 (R8/$125)

Bubble Bobble Part 2 is significantly further down the list for rarity (it's on the low end of R7, I think), but its popularity pushes its price up into the top 12 or 15.

tuxedocivic: If you don't need it, I'll give you $100 US for it. Or $40 for the manual, either/or image .

Haha, I enjoy learning as much as possible so it's all good Ryan. image

Anyone know of sellers at 6k? Technically my family gives me back my scholarship money to college whenever I want to ask for it. And I would have over 6k, but I can't ever see myself actually spending that much on a game. But hey, you never know.
