NES Redump project

What the title says. I'm thinking about picking up a NES & CopyNES & re-dumping my collection of NES carts. Only problem is I don't know if I can assemble the CopyNES as my soldering/desoldering skills are....um...let's say lacking any skill. Has anyone ever dumped their collection or does anyone know of a project already in the works ?

  • I have dumped most of my collection.

Not sure what you mean by a project in the works.. There are lots of people dumping nes carts, but unless you have some carts that have never been dumped, I don't see why you would want to send them away to be dumped.

The new usb copynes is much easier to assemble than the old one was. Desoldering the cpu is the only real tough part.. I would probably suggest enlisting some help to assemble the copynes for you if you are not comfortable trying it yourself.
  • I kinda wanna get my War in the Gulf (unlicensed Brazilian NES game) dumped. I can't find a ROM for it anywhere so I'm assuming it hasn't been dumped yet...
  • I have done a few copynes installs fo members here for the cost of shipping both ways. I would be glad to do another if you are interested.
  • I've been running a project for a few years now, the site is: http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777

It uses custom software to dump and interface with the DB (Windows only). The software hasn't been available for download lately though because I've been slacking :/ Pretty much all US carts have been dumped at least once, but ideally, everything ought to be verified by multiple carts.

NESMASTER14:  I'm pretty sure War in the Gulf is still undumped.

Ben does excellent work!  I can vouch for that as he did mine for me.  image
  • I would definitely be interested in having someone else do it for sure. I'll get ahold of another toaster & the CopyNES, It'll probably be a little while though, should I PM you when I get it together or just post here ?
