Sealed Question!

Ok I just bought an Elevator Action on eBay cause I needed a non-hang tab box version for my 3 screw cart and I keep find the hang-tab boxes for this one. Anyways the auction said almost new but he did mention having abunch of sealed games. Anyways this gets here and it's sealed with the original plastic hangtabs they put on the outside of the shrinkwrap and a price tag on it? But there is no horizontal line on the back. So my question is did Elevator action non-hang tab box have the line or not? If this is a reseal they did the best job I've ever seen, the box is perfect and tight no wear nothing showing on the top flap fold, nothing on the corners, it's perfect. Any help is appreciated.

  • Did you buy it for "sealed" price?
  • I was wondering why you were bidding on that Erik. I still need a Elevator Action box but didn't want to outbid you.

  • Yeah that's why, thanks for holding back? Just hope Bronty reads this.

It's a reseal. You bought it from atwood right? He bought a lot of about 20? no-line elevator actions from vintagevgs. Vintagevgs had a lot of legit games, but a lot of rewraps too. What you have is almost certainly a 'store reseal' ie a copy that was resealed by the business, back in the day, because it either had damaged wrap or was returned by the customer, etc. You never know for sure what's inside, but often copies like that have mint interiors and are as good as sealed. But sometimes they are not. I've opened a few.

I think there was a fairly large scale rewrap of elevator actions at the distributor level at some point because the vintagevgs inventory wasn't the first one to have rewrapped elevator actions.

Anyways, legit elevator actions have the line. I have one or two somewhere that I could take a picture of, but they are in storage. Difficult game to get truly factory sealed.
  • Interesting info thanks Dan. Only reason I thought this might be real was becuase box is perfect and it has price tag and a plastic hang tab on it. But if you have sealed with line non-hang tab box then there's my proof it reseal.

I hear you. My first copy of Elevator back when I first started (literally, like the first month) I was wondering if it could be real too because the box was so perfect. But as I say these are return/ store rewrap copies - and yes, I do have a non-hangtab box sealed with line.

    cheers.
  • Erik, I've also run into resealed games where the game appears perfectly mint without the line. In fact, Bronty returned a Gyromite and SMB 1 to a seller, who in turn resold them. I purchased them on the cheap, and I swear these are the same situation where they were resealed at the store or distro level -- they're perfect in every way, minus the seam. I don't have elevator action sealed, but I do remember passing up on several of them when vintagvgs sold his stash.
