Good multiplayer games

Alright, so I decided to try something different and join marching band this year. Long story short, there's a big competition in Philadelphia where we have to stay at a hotel for a night with four people per room. Obviously, I'm bringing an NES. Now, I just need a list of good multiplayer games (preferably 4-player) that are simply, yet addicting and fun. I can only bring 10 games (if push comes to shove, 11).
So far, this is what I have:
- Super Mario Bros. (obviously)
- Contra (one of the best multiplayer games ever)
- Tengen Tetris
- Bomberman II
- A Nightmare on Elm Street (4-player platformer)
- Super Off-Road
- SPOT
- Super Spike V'Ball / World Cup (I've heard good things about Super Spike, and I've played World Cup myself, plus multicarts are always welcome)

I know there's  also a couple racing games that support 4-player, does anyone know which one's the best. Also, are there any good 4-player puzzle games out there? Thanks.

  • SPOT makes an awesome party game if you have 4-players. Highly reccomended.
  • Anticipation & Championship Bowling support 4 players. They're okay games. Ivan Stewart's Super Off-Road also supports 4 players and is really fun. Crash n' the Boys Street Challenge might be fun with a group of people as well, but you can only play 2 at a time.

    Quote for the truth

    great game

  • Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat is a great 4-player game if you're in the racing mood. (plays just like Super Off-Road, but with Indy cars). River City Ransom is pretty fun too if you're in the "beat people up" mood, and Magic Darts is fun if you're in the classic dart- throwing mood. All these games are great multiplayer.
  • Super Spike V'Ball is a really fun 4-player game!

I definately need a fighting game, is there a one-on-one option?

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys!

  • Man I know a lot of people around here hate the N64, but thats the best retro 4 player system IMO. Hell, it revolutionized the industry and 4 ports have been standard ever since.

For NES though... is Burgertime 4 player? And I also second Supre Spike, heard really good things about it.
  • sheesh.. n64 is considered retro now?.. man I'm old.

I love super dodge ball as a multiplayer game, but it's only 2 player I think
  • I definitely support Super Spike V'Ball, have had a lot of good times with that game and a few buddies.

Personally, I really enjoy R.C. Pro-Am II as a racing multiplayers game.
Super-Off Road is nice as well.
  • Gauntlet you have to have friends be into it, and im not even into it myself, me and 3 of my friends poped it in, but got extreamly bored with it. These I have found are really fun to play with people (i'll leave out the easy ones like Contra, Double Dragon II etc...)

A Nightmare on Elm Street (4-Players) a lot of people hate this game for some reason but its fun with 4 peeps.

    TMNT II

Super Spike V' Ball / Nintendo World Cup (both 4 players)

    Life Force

ICE HOCKEY!!! Trust me on this one, whenever my buddies come over and have a few drinks we always play this game its extreamly funny and even the people watching will be into it, plus the game is really cheap and easy to find.
  • Indy Heat and Super Off Road
  • Bubble bobble and Rodland are both kick ass 2-players simultaneously games. Both sharing a similar style and very little lag involved.

I'm gonna pass on R.C. Pro Am II for now, due to price (I guess next in line is Super Off-Road). but I'm definately getting it for the collection later.
  • Super spike v'ball is probably the best 4-player simultaneous party game on the system. As far as 4 player puzzle games, I can only really think of Spot.

However, don't overlook something like Skate or Die, or California games. As long as you don't mind passing a controller around everyone can get in on the game image
