  • Haven't been to a game crazy in a while. Does this mean liquidation? Anyone know?
  • This isn't GameCrazy's fault. It's the storefront movie rental industry. It's on its way out. Netflix and Blockbuster command so much of the market share, it's a downward spiral.
  • Dan, I agree, this is the market realigning itself.. Don't be surprised to see many of the rental stores attached to those Game Crazy's to go soon.

Red Box is killing my local movie stores..
  • ^ Right, I forgot about Red Box. There's always a line at those damned things, everywhere by me. Are the discs standard DVDs like you'd purchase? If so it's better than torrents for movies you want the extras on like commentary and stuff.
  • Blockbuster is up against the ropes itself, really netflix and redbox take care of the honest people's needs and torrents are providing the content for all the pirates out there.

The movies are just like standard DVDs..  Only they come in silly small cases, and not the regular retail cases..  I'd highly recommend renting one movie from a Red Box, just once..
You need a credit card or debit card, and it'll cost you a dollar + tax a day..  I love it..  I hardly use the video store anymore..

You can rent from one Red Box and return to any Red Box, anywhere..  It's grrrrreat!
  • Yes Blockbuster is going bankrupt. Red Box and Netflix are putting them out and FAST... although Blockbuster just secured even more loans to keep them going for awhile longer.

I was just in a Game Crazy yesterday buying games and they told me it wasn't them going out of business. It was the Game Zone things that are also in Hollywood Video's that were going out of business. Hence why they sold off their used games under $30 for $4.99 each. Game Zone's are still lingering around in stores like my local Hollywood Video that never got a Game Crazy in them. I can't get the article to open here at work to read it but that is what I was told yesterday firsthand.
  • Reminder...Game Crazy is closing 200 stores..not Game Zone....Hollywood video is to stay open if they have a Game Crazy that is closing....there will be no liquidation sales...they are to transfer thier products to other stores in the district....sorry guys..no good deals there, but if you know someone who is working there....? Remember they are losing thier jobs....so be kind
  • Game Crazy was the first place I bought NES games from locally about 5 years ago :'(

    sad to see it go...

R.I.P Game Crazy (You won't be forgotten, your bag and receipts still remain on my wall after all these years.)

    *moment of silence
  • The Gamecrazy/Hollywood video out here closed up about a week ago with no warning at all. They were there one day and gone the next. There werent any sales they just moved the stock to another store.
  • I have a friend who works at GC and he said that they will be having %85 off of used games only...he is not sure when this is gonna happen. It will be within 4 weeks. New games will be sent to other locations. I hope this is true.
  • we only have gamestop, i've NEVER seen another game store within 5-6 hours of here.

WOW if that is true please let me know when I will drive all over this state cleaning out the used PS3 games at 85% off damn!
  • all of NA will be sure to know. My friend told me to get a list of games I want and he'll try to set them aside. It does sound waaaayyyy to good to be true but maybe they don't want to overstock other stores with used games so they want them gone....time will tell....For some reason as well the public isn't supposed to know so this leads me to belive they won't mark everything down until the last week..we'll see
  • Blockbuster is going out of business in my town!

RED BOX is AWESOME! Netflix is fine too, so long as you know what you want to watch a few days ahead of time image

Same here...the day you find out, post a thread!! I'll travel all over as well. So, is game crazy only in Hollywood video or is that the game part of Movie Gallery as well? We just started getting those game stores in our Movie Gallery stores.
  • Dang, mine said they haven't had theirs for 2 months now. I went in a bought up a bunch of their stuff when they had the $4.99 deal. I'm assuming Game Crazy is the part that sells new games and systems?
