  • Dragon Warrior (the first) had a Nintendo Power pullout guide...I believe it was somewhere between 8 and 16 pages, not very long at all, but given how straightforward that one was...did it really need more? Also, Dragon Warrior II had a guide, as well.
  • I have a Might & Magic guide and I know that Nobunaga's Ambition and Wizardy 2 both had mail in guides. Im sure there are a lot more too.
  • I'm not too sure about Nobunaga's Ambition any more -- the one I got was the PC version, so I returned it. I've yet to see a NES one, so I'm not 100% sure it exists.
  • Well scratch that one then because that was the ony i was referring to.
  • Yeah, I was pretty bumbed out about that. Kinda sucks!
  • I believe the Ultima guide is the first one for an NES game.
  • What about the 4 Player guide that came out around the time of the Four Score and Satellite?
I've never seen the guide, but I imagine it was essentially a strategy guide for all the 4 Player games that had just come out..
  • That's basically what it is. I have an extra 4 Player Special if anyone is interested.
  • I was just thinking also about the new-ish Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition disc that came out for GameCube.  That disc has a guide for it and includes complete maps walkthrough info for Legend of Zelda (both quests) and Zelda 2.
So, not from the NES era, but it is an NES guide image
