Stadium Events Questions

You guys have probably been over this a million times, but I am new here so humor me!

I was reading the Wikipedia entry for Stadium Events and I guess it is the pre-cursor to World Class Track Meat and the Power Pad.

My question is did the Bandai version of the Power Pad ever make it to the shelves? I guess it would have had to in order to play this game correct?  What the hell does that thing look like??

I highly doubt anyone in my area ever saw one of these because there is no Woolworth around here!

How many is really out there?  Do any of you really have one?

  • So it is considered to be less rare then the Stadium Events game?  Why is that?
  • ?? Why do you say that?
  • Athletic World was bundled initially with the Family Fun Fitness Pad, but Stadium Events (which required it) was sold separately. Although both of them are insanely rare, the SE is moreso because it involved a large outlay for the game/peripheral bundle, and then an extra investment for the separate game. All before the recall happened! image

I guess I am just a little shocked because I had no idea of the whole Family Fun Pad thing until like yesterday and just saw those pictures of it for the first time today!

It does make sense that the game that was sold seperately would be more rare- I get it, like I said I just didn't know such a thing existed.

  • Yea, think DDR. You had to buy DDR 1 which came with the pads and the first game (Family Fun Fitness Athletic World). Then when they came out with DDR 2, you had to go back and buy the first one to get the dance pads. In this anology, DDR2 = Stadium Events.
  • I think there is less interest in the pad itself which results in the lower price. Hardcore collectors do want one, but if you can get a regular power pad you can play all the same games so the demand for the FFF pad is slightly lower as a result (in my opinion).
  • The pad is worth significantly less loose too as it is identical to the PAL release aside from the packaging. Still a cool little item to have though.
  • I belive that the fun family fitness pad and athletic world made it out to a lot of places before it was pulled off the shelf. meaning there are a lot more out there. i found one at a yard sale in west virginia and have seen others, where se ive never seen in the wild
  • Speaking of Fitness Pads there is a FF Pad still sitting at the game store in town image.
  • stadium events is rare because it was a retail test run, sent to only a select few woolworths stores, whereas athletic world and the pad were sold everywhere (not just woolworths). there were only a few 1000 stadium events made before the recall, and of those probably a scant percentage actually sold, because it looks so crappy and required a pad no one had.
  • I bought my FFF Pad for $35 on eBay CIB and when I got it home was completely blown out of the water to find the 1st confirmed SEALED FFF AW inside it which wasn't even mentioned in the auction. There are now 2, maybe even 3 confirmed sealed FFF AW's out there.
  • Wasn't the Woolworths thing not true. I thought it was mass-distributed, just for a freakishly short period of time?

EDIT - For instance, I just learned that 2 SEs were found in Canada and we don't have Woolworths that I know of.

This was the old folklore, handed down, but I've never seen convincing evidence of this. With copies turning up all over the US and even in Canada, it certainly may have been a Woolworth's exclusive, but I think it's equally likely to have received a wider release but only lasted on store shelves for only a week or two before NOA and Bandai cut their deal.

That said, Woolworth's was a multinational chain at the time, with many stores in Canada as well as across the US, so I'm not discounting the possibility. I just wanna know where's the beef!

Well, Woolworth's certainly was a popular Canadian chain throughout the 80's and early 90's but they eventually went out of business altogether. Which would explain why there are none near you now! image

Dan is correct. The Woolworth's in my city shut down and was turned into Wal-Mart in the mid 90's.
