An odd variant I came across reading one of the older game lists...

In NGD's old game list (by old, I mean in terms of how far NES collecting has come in the 2+ years since his last update)...there is mentioned a Dr. Mario with a white end label, as opposed to the standard yellow end label.  I'm kinda curious as to what one might command, and how much rarer it is than the standard yellow (to me, it's not a question of whether it's rarer, as I've only ever seen one white end label versus hundreds of yellow end labels).  Anyone have any idea?

  • I have seen 3 white label's myself, but I stopped looking a long time ago. I doubt there is any difference at all though since hardly anyone cares about variants and this one really isn't that hard to track down.

  • It's like the 3screw vs 5screw...you'd have to find the right person to take an interest in it
  • Is it possible at all that this corresponds to that Wal-Mart exclusive with the Dr Mario pack-in? I can't suss this one out, as to why/how it actually exists.
  • Speaking of how much it would fetch, what would a backwards label Yoshi fetch as well?
  • I want the white label Dr. Mario....PM me

    That is my fav game....

I always thought it could be a fading issue.  Who knows, interesting thought though Dan although if it was in the Walmart pack in I would think more would be out there with Wal Mart's sales figures.  For those who don't know what Dan is talking about here is a picture of mine.

Well afai knew, weren't there mutliple but the only one is Jasons? (what I mean is that it wasn't just a random printing but a factory error on multiple carts). No, I didn't see one pop up image
  • Mine is the only one that I have ever seen or heard of. It came from Josh, to Michiganfan, to me.

  • The reason why I asked...I found one two days ago, while I was at McKay's in Chattanooga. As I'd only read about it and never seen it, eBay auction or otherwise, I figured it might have been worth the $7.95 to pick it up. Oh, well...if nothing else, it's one for the collection image .
  • Well Matt if it's not just a fading thing then I'd definetly like to have it if you're selling. Of course I suppose I probably should open that WalMart pack and see if there is one in there first, lol.
  • It's definitely not fading...there's a very small area, what would be the upper-right of the front label (upper-left of the end label), in which the line separating white and blue meets on the end label portion. I probably wouldn't be able to accurately take a picture of it, though, given my current camera (which doesn't get the best shots for detail :/ ).

And also, while everything has its price, I don't exactly intend on selling this for the time being (sorry, Erik :/ ).
  • It's weird, just remembered this thread when I was re-arranging some stuff tonight and pulled out my US Dr Mario and it has a white top. All my Pal ones do not.

The yellow top is much more common, but I don't think that white ones are very rare, because I've had numerous copies of both. Meh.
  • Dont let Bella see this she will want it.
  • That's kinda cool. I never knew about this variant.

I would pay at least $50-75 depending on condition. It's weird, but i have a thing for upside down labels. I have two and would love some more.
