PAL AC adapter to power NTSC console

Hello,

I am from Europe but I just recently did imported NTSC NES console from USA. I have AC adapter that I got with my PAL console and now I was wondering can I use that AC adapter to power my imported NTSC console?

I am just scared something dosen't burn image Anyways, thanks in advance and I hope my question will be answered soon.

  • I don't believe you can because they run on different power volts, you will need to get a converter and then use the US AC adapter plugged into the converter.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's how it works.
  • The transformer in the power adaptor converts the voltage to the same voltage DC required by and NTSC or PAL console. It's at the wall end that they take different voltages (110V for NTSC, 240V for PAL)

And this means I can use PAL AC adapter for my NTSC console?

I can do the thing with converter but I was just wondering... so if
someone is 100% it works, please write. Also I can read what it says
for input/output voltage on AC adapters if it's needed.

    Thanks.
  • Yes you can, I do it and it works great.
  • OK, can you please tell me what it says on your PAL NES AC Adapter? On my it says: Model NO NES-002E, Input AC 220/230V - 50Hz 17W. Output AC 9/9.4V1.3A .

Can you please tell me is your identical and is this one safe to use with NTSC NES console?

    Thanks!
  • I'm at work right now but I'll check as soon as I get back home.
  • OK please let me know. Thanks.
  • Okay here goes:

    Output AC 9V 1.3A

Sounds perfect, I'd say; go for it!
  • Works. I am testing it right now, if it was not OK it would burn right away? I mean I don't need to try it more hours to see if it will burn?
  • As long as the voltage is the same it's all OK, no worries. I think it (the NES) can handle a bit more too as well. I have ran mine for years so it is safe.
  • Ok than it's all set. Thanks image If someone has warning about this kind of experiments, please P.M. but I think it's pretty safe to use it as it didn't malfunction.
