Ey Hehe ye, that would be sweet I tried to search on Google for some detailed info around the 1985 launch, but i didnt really find anything. I would think this info would be easy to find.
Action Set wasn't till 1987. It was Deluxe Set and maybe (someone confirm?) a basic Control Deck Set. And I always heard October 18th as the official launch day... NGD where'd you get that Sep 15 date from?
It got it from Nintendo Power, and saw it somewhere on the Nintendo's website a while back. I think that Sep 15 was the NY launch date and Oct 18 was the nationwide launch. The only reason I remembered the 15th is because that is the day me and Christy started dating, "ahhh how sweet" I know I know.

That's too short for a test market. I think NY/LA were '85 Christmas season, with a national roll-out planned for 1986. I remember reading somewhere that the NES wasn't fully national in the US until September of 1986, but I can't find my source on that...
Thanks for the info people The main reason that i wonder is to find out what the first NES game was. I've been under the impression that it was Duck Hunt and Gyromite.
Was Super Mario Bros really released as early as 1985 in the US? Sweden was the first country in Europe that got the NES, 1. September 1986. The launch games were Excitebike, Ice Climber, Mario Bros, Pinball, Popeye and Tennis. Super Mario Bros didnt get released before 15th May 1987. Thats a long delay between US and PAL release. Maybe some other european countries got Super Mario Bros earlier tho, but i dont think so.

I dont have the exact date, but this site indicates that Deluxe Set and Basic Set (with SMB) were released in 1985.
