Another NWC Gold Cart Sold!!

Well, I have sold my NWC Gold cart now. The funds arrived today. The buyer is not a person who posts on this board and he has asked me to keep his name and the selling price a secret. I can say this, the selling price was did indeed set a new record as it was substantially higher than Bronty's sale price.

  • Congrats on the sale!!! Must be a nice feeling and sad feeling for letting the cart go!
  • Thanks...I am just using the money to help with a down payment on the house were building. It wasn't that tough to pull the trigger since I can still play the repro if I get the itch.
  • WOW. How does it feel, Mike? Happy, sad? Seems like you sold it for a very good reason, although it may be hard to find another one if you ever get the desire. How exactly did you get in contact with the buyer if he does not visit forums? How did he even know that you owned a NWC gold in the first place?

    -Nick
  • I actually got his number from another member here and I initiated first contact. I would dare say that it will be next to impossible to get another one of these in the future, overall I am happy.
  • Yea honestly i have always thought of having a real nwc as being no different than having some other kids old soccer trophy lol, because in reality its similar. It was never released, not necessarily part of a set, you can play bunnyboys awesome repro, why not sell really?? Because all and all it was just a prize at an old nintendo convention, that was given to some young kid who was prollly better at playing than half of us lol, especially given the time and circumstances of the event.

So yea the thought of having someone elses prize just never did it for me. I only ever wanted one to play and Brian made my wish come true lol. and the #2 cart i got is mine and only mine, was never given to someone else but me. Plus for a fraction of the cost lol. But ehhhhh i guess everyone has their own opinion but this was always mine.

Congrats on the sale Mike and good luck on your home. :-)
  • having a home is much more important than a game for sure. Nothing against the people that want to shell out a ton of money for the cart but for me the cart just isnt worth the price of a car. I bought 12 acres of property for 10 thousand. and they definitly dont make that anymore. lol
  • lol 12 acres of LAND = Gold NWC Cart

Man now THAT is a good trade my friend LOL
  • no way you could get 12 acres for 10 grand here in cali.... I need to move where you are wrldstrman.....
  • Even here in the foothills of the southern Appalachians (southeast TN), it's impossible to get 12 acres for $10,000. Heck, in some areas, you're lucky to get 3 acres for $10,000, and this is in rural areas...in the cities here, a 100 x 150 lot (1/3 acre) may run you $20,000. Then again, I always heard the land in West Virginia was cheap...so $833 an acre really doesn't seem that far low.
  • Wow... Wenatchee has been #1 fastest housing price appreciation in the ENTIRE NATION for past 6 quarters and all of last year. #2 in nation year before that. Was great when I bought and sold first home. Now my 2nd home has gone up over $80,000 in 12 months, which of course is great for me. But I have wanted to buy lots or some property for a long time but 1/4 acre lots here in Wenatchee sell between $90,000 - $200,000. And that's for a basic lot, not view lot or waterfront lot. Sign me up for some 12 acres for $10K all day long please!!

Tell me about it. Houses here start at half a million even well outside of the city, and that's for nothing special in an OK area, or a complete dump in a nice area, again well outside the city. Houses in vancouver itself are a mil, and that's for nothing great really. $10k wouldn't even pay the closing costs on that.
  • congrats michiganfan!!

The person we talked about? Or someone new?

    cheers,

    Dan

How much did Bronty's sell for?

Also, I would take a house over any game, even my entire collection, any day.
  • I have one 3/4 of an acre lot in the outskirts of Knoxville in a nice older subdivision. It is a corner lot but it appraises for like 30k alone. I should sell that and buy cheaper, lol.

  • Braveheart -

My cousins live in Wenatchee and I know exactly what you are talking about. He bought a corner lot with a two story house on the road that goes through town, through the cherry groves, and out to Leavenworth for only $60,000!! I live in Chicago and that's unheard of!

Have you ever eaten at La Fuenta??? Greatest Mexican food on the planet!!

Congrats on the sale and your newfound ventures!!

    Be well -

  • mines all wooded. probally 30 to 40 thousand dollars worth of timber on it. I plan on getting some of it cut to clear some land. Then start on a new house. I figure I can make enough to have the shell built then sell my house to pay for the rest if everything works out I should have a new house with no house payment. Nice thing is Ill be able to sit in the house and watch the deer, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, bears etc from my window. Im a big nature lover. Also there will be a couple of nice big rooms for my games image
  • Nice, yeah my new house was new construction too but didn't get my big game room that I wanted. Hopefully 3rd house will be better designed to have a big game room for me. image Congrats on the property purchase though Wrldstrman sounds awesome! Like camping with your video game collection.

Mario's LN are you my cousin? LOL... my mom was born and raised in Willmette right outside Chicago. Her side of the family still lives there including abunch of my cousins. Yes I know where La Fuente is... it's my favorite Mexican restaurant and I live about 7-8 minutes away from there in a new development going South from it towards Mission Ridge Ski Area. Yeah lot's of cherries around here. You know what we call Leavenworth around here... Leave it's Worth because you leave your worth (money) there since all the touristy stuff is so expensive there, lol perfect example I bought a Huckleberry candle there for $40.
  • I agre with Mark, sure if I found a gold or grey NWC cart at a flea market for $15 I would buy it, probably resell it, having the reproduction is just as fun as it plays the exact same, plus it would be nice to a make a couple grand off something you got cheap. But to each one his own.

You know, that's pretty much exactly how I feel about it too - I had no hesitation in selling mine when I needed the money. Would have been nice to keep but for the price it can fly, fly away. At the end of the day its just a contest premium and not part of a real set of any kind. It had no real "wow factor" for me in person, either...

I drive by there every time I go to Lake Chelan for a summer vacation! Cool place. I go into Wenatchee once usually while I am out there.

IMO grey 1990 nwc are slightly nicer and have more history to them plus the cost is expensive as sh*t yet reasonable...the gold one's can hardly be linked to anyone in particular...whereas the grey's were at least used in competition
  • I agree with that actually, the grey ones *are* more historical, for sure. There's just more of them hence the lower price.

Whatever. For my money I'd way rather have other stuff.

    cool. congrats!
  • Too Funny Maximus... I work up in Chelan. In fact when I lost that lot with the SE in it that Nick beat me out on earlier this year and I said I was out of town at work I was working in Chelan. I love it up there, family bought a house up in Manson in 1985 so I have been going up there for a long time, way before I started working up there. Sweet, so I have Maximus and Mario's Left Nut gonna come hang out. Anyone else? Come on Bronty you only live 3 1/2 hours away too.

    LOL!

  • Congrats on the sale, I bet the bloke who bought it couldn't believe his look when you gave him first chance at it out of the blue.

    RE: House prices:

A one bedroom apartment/flat in london would cost you £300,000, so $600,000 to you guys.

A house would cost you well over £600,000 in London.

On the news the other week somebody had converted a small broom cupboard into an apartment with a bed & toilet and that sold for over £100,000. For a bleeding janitors broom cupboard!!!!!! Its unreal.

House prices have just gone crazy all over the world, the likes of Turkey & Spain house prices all like x10 what they were 2 - 3 years ago.

Thats sweet. I like the drive up there too, my wife always wants to stop at the freaking Wishing Well to buy some peanut brittle and candy.

We frequent the Hungry Belly and Laguna. We also go to that Blueberry Hill place for pancakes and hashbrowns that have so much butter they barely hold together.

    LOL!

I'm in... I'll catch a ride with maximus. Half the people on ebay think we're the same person so maybe we can disprove the myth at the same time, lol.
  • Curtis and Bronty the same person, boy that would shock the shit out of some people LOL. Myself included image
