Can -> US shipping

Hey guys,

I assume someone must have this down to an artform by now, but if I am shipping a single famicom or nes cart to the US, what is the best way you guys have found to get a decent rate?  Will they go through letter mail, or light package maybe?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • You just blew my mind... I was about to post the exact same thread. Not even kidding.

    I seem to remember reading about some type of a media mailer used for CDs and such, I was going to ask if anyone knows anything about them.
  • Okay. So, I looked it up, and the thing I was thinking of is "light packet".

    If you happen to have an NES cart that weighs under 100g, then you can get away with mailing it out for $2.11. But, if you happen to be slightly over 100g, the shipping price doubles. Here's the Canda to USA pricing chart:

    This is kind of a bummer, considering NES carts usually weigh between 100g - 110g, so they will generally cost 4.40.

    But- I'm pretty sure Famicom carts weigh less than NES carts, so you could get away with mailing one of them to the USA for $2.11.

    As for lettermail... I am fairly sure that an NES game in a bubble mailer is too thick to be Lettermail.

  • yeah it has to be less than 2cm thick though..  As far as I could gather, that is the max thickness for light packet. They are pretty close to that even without a bubblemailer
  • I can usually get away with lettermail, it just barely fits through the the measuring thingy they have at the post office that measures thickness.
  • Lettermail only works if you use a non padded enveloppe, you really need to use small packet at $5.25.
  • You can fit a NES game in a non padded envelope with some paper towel around the game and still fit it through the mail slot without any problems. I don't think I would send any valuable games this way though.
  • Yeah, well if the game is valuable, 5-6$ shipping makes sense.. If it's under 10$ to begin with, it doesn't image
