Has anyone ever disassembled the RF modulator?

That damn little square is soldered everywhere. I have a few junk NES' (none fully work..) that i'm trying to fix, until my good one I just bought off a member here arrives.

One NES has a short somewhere by the power jack, but that damn thing is practically welded to the motherboard. I may have to bust out the 30-watt iron.

Anyone have any tips on how to get these things off? Someone here had to have taken one apart at one point.

  • You simply have to pull it up while soldiering with a screwdriver or knife. I have a desoldierng iron so its alot easier but just go a little on one then go to another pin.
  • Put on a lot of soldering wire on the spots where the jack is soldered.

Because the soldering wire will transfer the heat to all the spots.

Then you should be able to just pull off the jack while heating at one spot.
