Buying from Europe

Hi,

I was just wondering how many people buy from European countries like France and Germany. I see so often cheap on both of these countries ebay sites great deals for a fraction of the price that you would normally pay.

Also, as I am from the UK, if I were to start buying from these countries, are the manuals and boxes in english, as in pretty much all the pictures I have seen they have been and is the language in the game in english?

Cheers,
Jack

  • I've bought quite a bit from Europe & I'm in the UK and nothing has been a problem so far. I buy cart only NES though so no manuals etcs.

Where in the UK are you from?
  • I've made a lot of money buying stuff from ebay.fr and selling here in Sweden on Tradera. Stuff go for 200-300% here vs ebay.fr.
Almost every FRA box or manual i've had has been in English aswell as French and Dutch.
  • The games are usualy in English. But there are some exceptions like Banana Prince or Maniac Manison and a bunch of other games. Banan Prince f.e. exists only with German screentext and Maniac Mansion depends where You bought it franch one is in Fransch, german one in German and so on.
About Manuals, the early games got english manuals an writings on the boxes - this should be the games with EEC region code.
Later than manuals are usualy in they language where You bought it also the writings on the boxes. Also many manuals are in more than one laguage espeicaly the ones in France (Franch and Netherlands at least some also with english) this is the case by FAH code. If You only worry about the screentext so You don't have to 95% of the PAL games are in english.
  • Thanks for your replies, it all sounds pretty sound.

I am down in the south east in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, whereabouts are you?

Also, Widar, I have been looking at the Swedish ebay today and there are quite a few items that I am interested in, although it's seems a bit different from other ebay sites, you have to register seperately?

If anyone else has had any experiences with buying from France, Germany, Sweden etc, it'd be cool to here what you think.

    Cheers,
    Jack
  • Hi Jack, I'm Gary.

I'm up North in Chester, Cheshire. I'm regularly down the south though usually a lot more west; I've got family in South Wales so when I get down there I usually get myself across to Bath & Bristol etc.

As far as I know were the only two UK members here so far.

Its a bit of a thread steal but do you collect for any other consoles/systems?
  • It's mainly NES and N64, but over the last few weeks I've been really looking at the Game and Watch set, I was so close to bidding on one today, but held back.

I've also got Xbox but mainly just play on Halo, thinking of getting a 360 soon.

I prefer Nintendo, to any other for old school gaming. I love all the old merchandising as well, wouldn't mind collecting a bit of that.

Where abouts do you look for stuff, the only place I really look is the net?
  • Well recently I've been raiding the local Gamestation shops for Master System games. I try to get to the local bootsales as well, but its mostly playstation stuff I find at them which doesn't really interest me.

But the net is a big source of games for me, play-asia & ebay are my two main websites for getting stuff.

I'm told cash converters sometimes have gaming stuff in, its just being in the right place at the right time.
  • I bought a French Kirby's Adventure and it had French text.

But you don't need to read or be able to read to play Kirby image
