What do you think this is worth?

Hey I had seen one of these months ago and the same seller has posted another,

http://cgi.ebay.com/SECRET-OF-MANA-2-US-VERSION-COMPLETE-US-BOOKLET_W0QQitemZ170397340369QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Vintage_Video_Games?hash=item27ac7912d1

What do you think its actually worth, probably difficult to estimate but try your best image.

I think the last one went for ~170 US.

  • Wow, they actually made a box and manual for the repro? Looks sharp, but I don't think they should add to the cost significantly, since repros have no collector value anyway, and the box/manual don't really matter.

If you have a functional translated rom of the game, I would just have one of the local repro guys make the cart for you. Seems like it would save quite a bit of money, if you had the time to wait.

There's no compelling reason to pay more than $80-$100, for even the more complicated SNES reproductions.
  • Yea thats what I figured, I bid 75 as my max for his first one and was surprised it got up to 175, mind you it is a pretty good game.

What do you mean by local repro guys? as on this site?
  • Yeah, local, as in within our circle of NAge members.

The SNES Dragon Quests can be had from those guys for as little as $60. Secret of Mana 2 might be a more complicated job, depending on the chip, but I can't imagine it's much more than that.
  • Hmmm, I may have to look into that, thanks Nathan.
  • read ye ole' e-zine for this month. thats how to make some of the easier SNES repro's the harder ones like the SoM require more chips or one flash chip... a TSOP 29f032 to be more specific... and no I don't have any... and yes I'm looking everywhere for them... and no the one on ebay right now won't work because its to fast 70ns, the snes can't read that chip fast enough from my understanding.

other then that price wise 170 is a quite a bunch of clams for that game
  • The game that is on ebay right now will not work in the system?
  • no sorry I ment the 29f032's on ebay won't work that game I can only guess would work.
  • Ian, there isn't some kind of standard supplier for chips kind of like Digikey does for almost everything else?
  • I've looked around a bit but have really gotten nowhere... aparently they weren't very popular... image
  • the box and manual i guess cost that guy a bit. I asked him how much it would be for a box and manual for my Secret of Mana 2 repro and it was 35 Euro's, so about $53 shipped for the box and manual. He said it cost him about 25 Euro's to get them made professionally.

  • ^^^ Just because they cost him that much to make doesn't mean you need to pay that much extra to get a copy of the game, nor does it mean they are really "worth" that much, after the fact.
  • If I was an anal CIB collector, I know for a fact I would pay it. It's just money....you can make more cash. But if you buy that box and manual, then it's out of the way and you don't have to upgrade or anything. Not saying I would do it...just playing devil's advocate.
