    D'oh!

Fly thought a very limited part of the game, that is. image

Warp zones are so lame. image

Not when they're the kind that take you from 3 to 1... SMB2 style.

  • Is there any way to zoom in on your character? I'm playing 1-player, and it seems awfully zoomed out..
  • The game is a nice looking game, but seriously? Is this Little Big Planet? Wheres the two player mode?
  • ? Its 1-4 players
  • I mean where is the old school 2 players, where you wait...the other plays....and then you play..and so on....
  • Oh... 2P alternating. This is much better than that, but I guess they could have included that as an option. Dont really see where its needed though.
  • Yeah, you could always just hand the controller back and forth.
  • My friend said that if you pass the game with 99 lives and 99 coins, you get to play as Yoshi!

Seriously, my friend's brother saw him do it! image
  • i think this will be the best game for the wii, there wont be a better one to top it, and it will prob be the best selling to, it woulda been much better if it came out when the wii first came out, kinda like nes with smb /dh, it woulda maid the wii more popular maybe?

SMB/DH didn't exist when the NES was first released.

As for this being the best game on the Wii, I'll agree that it is so far. But, if this game sells well, I forsee NSMB Wii 2 in the future. They're making SM Galaxy 2, so why not a sequel to this game? If that happens, it'll almost certainly be better than this version (ie. We'll see more of Yoshi, etc).
  • I sure hope I don't run out of lives!
  • just started level 5 last night. image

  • Anyone 100% complete this yet? I finally finished the game with a friend this weekend and the last level was definitely entertaining. No spoilers, but just another classic Mario vs. Bowser battle to the end.

Got all of the star coins in World 1 and about halfway through World 2, though I'm not sure if I'm going to get them all or not. Still overall I give it a 9/10, one of the better buys for the Wii.

  • I just got to world 7 last night, got all the Star Coins in worlds 1 2 and 3, gonna go back later and get the rest. Def one of the best next gen games ive played.
  • I have star coins on every level but 2. I'll work on them later tonight. Some of them are challenging, its been a blast.
  • I'm getting through this...extremely slowly though. I try to get the star coins every time without continuing unless I get them. I'm at the end of world 3, so I have all the coins until then.
  • Yeah, I must admit this game is a lot easier (and more fun) with 2 people. Instead of replaying levels several times to get some of the harder coins (ones that require being small or using a helicopter head), you can often have the second player jump to their death and grab the coin while the other player finishes. Kinda cheap, but since I probably have a couple hundred games I still haven't even played yet, I don't 100% them like I used to.

Also heard great things about Assassin's Creed II, so that's high up on my want to play list.
  • Finished collecting all the star coins today. It was fun but be warned that last coin is a MFer.
  • When I heard that this game was going to be tough, I thought it would have challenging platforming like SMB2J did. Sadly, I was wrong, all of NSMBW's difficulty seems to come from trying to get all the star coins, which is purely optional. This hunting for Star coins ends up feeling like a game of Hide and Go Seek, which I wasn't really too fond of. I wish they had made the platforming itself much more tough. Still a great game though.
  • Can't make everyone happy I guess. It's plenty tough enough if you are trying to play with more than one player, which I think was the point of this game from the start. I am pretty decent at the game, so is my bro, but you put us both on the same screen and it makes certain things that are normally easy, way more difficult.
  • ^I couldn't agree more... bumping into each other makes things far more difficult in quite a few levels. There's a level in world 8 with waves of lava that I can fly through in one player, but with two players it's harder than hell.
  • Just completed the damn thing! What game should I ngo to next?

I am going back through Mario Galaxy at the moment.
  • When Mario is in a bubble, does anyone else hear the voice coming from the controller saying "You're killing me!"?
  • I've only got two star coins left. The stage they are in is a nightmare, though!

    Fire and ice. Yech.

Im sorry New Super Mario Bros. Wii couldn't hold Mario Galaxy's left nut... best game on the Wii??!? not even close... Plus why is the difficulty set for that of a 5 year old? I love the game but I usually only have to go through each level twice to find all the star coins, and when I do find them there not hard to get... and why by the end of world 2 do I have 99 lives?

I just don't see how you compare this to Super Mario Galaxy?

  • its not suposto be crazy hard, its like a kids game, like all the marios, ill admit its easyer than smb 3, but still
  • Let me rephrase my previous comment- once some badass custom levels start getting released by people with the Level Editor, THEN it will be the best game on the Wii.

Difficulty set for a 5 year old?  Are we playing the same game?

I've been playing Mario games long before you were even born, and I can tell you, without a doubt, that this game is not easy.  And I very much look forward to you making a video of your first run through through worlds 7 and 8 and you getting the star coins in one or two pass throughs.

Let me know when you do that.  I'll get some popcorn and call all my friends so we can come laugh at how ridiculous you look.

I second that Kevin! Let us know...we already have the popcorn ready...
The game is fun, but is difficult in its own way.
