What did I see in my Game Shop?

I was just at the local game shop, and in the glass case they keep the rares in had something strange in it.
It looked like a grey N64 cart, but was 2-3 times taller than a normal cart. It was covered by a game, so I couldn't quite see what it was. I didn't ask to look at it, just to make sure I didn't draw any unneeded attention to it.
What could it have been?

Would a proto be 3 times taller than a normal cart?

I was thinking it was maybe a cleaning device or something. Maybe I should go pick it up.

there are sme youtuve vids that show the n64 when it first came out and they use a cart like that, and they refer to it as a prototype
  • Yea alot of N64 protos are alot taller than a normal carts. An example of one can be seen in this old thread at Digitpress: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107287
  • Perhaps the Wide-Boy CGB?

Whether is be a prototype or a wideboy. both are worth some serious cash.  N64 prototypes are a BITCH to find, and they can command top dollar.  I would head back ASAP and see what you can make of it.

    Good luck!

  • Well, I went back and checked it out... it was a cleaning kit. The way it was covered up made it look deceivingly large. Guess I need to lay off the crack! image

Thanks for the help anyways, everyone.
  • Crack....never hurts when you are a gamer....jk
  • I should add that I stayed up all night last night studying for a Calculus test, so I'm running on approx. 30 hours with no sleep. That might have been a factor in me thinking a cleaning kit could have been a proto. image
  • Lol, I'd never even known that there were N64 cleaning kits (I guess I assumed but never looked into it). I definitely thought it would be a proto. Oh well!
  • Crack kills!

    So does Calculus!!!
