Nice Site / My Intro

Thanks for the invite NGD! Nice place you got here... I'm sure I'll spend lots of time here. I did not however like the reminder right on the home page that I got outbid on Chubby Cherub! I have needed that box for 4 years now!! Thought I was finally going to get it that time. Oh well, I did pick up CLU CLU LAND complete in box, SQOON complete in box, Secret Scout complete in box, PESTERMINATOR both Blue Cart and Black Cart CIB, as well as at least 30 others from dkazz (CC seller) over the last month, most were box upgrades but I did get a couple I needed. You guys are right about the hard boxes... CLU CLU and SQOON are terribly hard to find, especially near mint to mint.

Anyways I have raddled on long enough, again thanks for the invite!

  • LOL about Chubby Cherub -- I can certainly understand, as that's a super tough one to track down! I got extremely lucky on mine, as it was misspelled in the auction title and I fetched it for around $75 I think.

Erik, it's good to have you here -- I've seen you around on ebay for ages, and wondered if you'd find our little nook on the web -- welcome! BTW, I used to go by Giskard on ebay (now I go by Nintedo_Age).

Glad you made your way here braveheart image I remember you bought a CIB DK Math of me a while back. Good to meet another hard core variant collector in the hobby!

As for Dain's Chubby Cherub, I wish I knew that it was so rare back then :-( I only bid it up to about $35 and stopped. He got so lucky at $75 and the fact that it was a mispelled auction. Dang, I am so kicking myself in the face right now. LOL

...and boy am I glad you didn't know what it was worth! I was *so* damn lucky... normally I'll email sellers when there are misspellings in their auctions, but I couldn't bring myself to do it that time.

BTW, I found it by using a more forgiving search:

    (chuby,chubby,cherub,cherib) (nes,nintendo)

This might help you guys out image

  • Your both just lucky I didn't see it image

  • The next one that comes up I fear will get bloody!! I am usually nice and don't bid on too much stuff anymore when I see either Dain or Jason, etc bidding on it. Although Michigan Mike and ServiceGames812 still Snipe me but nothing I can do about it. Like that Padillon Gais I wanted but didn't bid on. Which is sweet since it went up to 70 some pounds and Robb Webb (same seller) sold me one off eBay for 19.95 pounds, or that NES HES Toobin Dain is bidding on right now that I want... I can restrain myself. But CHUBBY is gonna be UGLY!!
  • That is my logic also, I try not to outbid my friends unless it is a very high end item. I also wanted to bid on that Toobin and the Death Race that got yanked, but out of respect I don't. I know Dain has passed on several auctions cause I bid first. All about respect to me. But Chubby is fair game, and it will get ugly, but it should be fun to watch.

Braveheart how hard are you going after that Trolls with the Troll attached. Send me a PM, not need in us driving up the bid on each other.

  • I forgot how I stumbled on that Chubby Cherub auction but Doug had already found it and I think we were the only 3 that bidded on it. I can see the next Chubby Cherub being a bloodfest. Too many people need that box for their collection including myself. I've been going other routes besides ebay as in contacting old collectors that are slowly getting rid of stuff, etc.

I'm tempted to go for that Trolls since mine fell through. Darth Vader ended up wanting to sell it on ebay instead. Oh well, he got more money out of it. Seems like several have showed up lately. This makes, what, the 4th one in just a few months?
  • Did you see the pics of my non-holes through the front of the box CIB Trolls Hounder? I think Dain said he posted scans of it as a variant in the NA database.
  • I did see that and I was actually amazed that it came without the troll as well image Every box I've seen has had either holes in it or the troll still attached. Gonna be tough finding that variant sealed image

Yah, sorry about that, but that's part of eBay, and this hobby, especially for the harder to find boxes I've been trying to track down recently. Braveheart69, I often see you bidding up very nice items and wonder why you don't snipe yourself. If you're worried about forgetting about an auction ending, you could use a sniping service so you will not have to worry about forgetting.

That's what I do usually. Whenever I see an item I want, I put my maximum bid into a sniping service so that I don't have to worry about being at my computer at a certain time. The service I use is www.snipestreet.com which is completely free and has proven to be very reliable to me.

I guess each person is different when it comes to eBay and this is just my personal method, but it works well for me.
  • Welcome to the site Erik!! lol. Every old topic I look at has hounder and nick in it. weird. Anyway enjoy your stay image
