Who here still goes to school?

Hey everybody,
I was just wondering how many of us poor suckers still went to school of some kind. I'm more interested in seeing who here is in College or University, but post if you are in high-school too I guess!

If you are in College/University... what are you studying? Tell us about it.

I actually completed a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa last spring. Human Kinetics is a program on different aspects of sport, exercise and the body, such as: physiology, neurophysiology, biomechanics, anatomy, sociology of sport/exercise, wellness, etc...

I've actually recently started graduate school, at the same University. Eventually (in 2 years... bleh, thats a long time), I'll have a Master's degree in Human Kinetics. And then after that, I'm going to go to teacher's college to become a gym teacher.

As I've always said... its a lot of school to play dodge-ball with kids for the rest of your life image.

  • Im currently going to Modesto Junior College mainly to play baseball... I got hurt back in high school so I didn't get a chance to get noticed by any 4 year schools. Im planning to transfer after this year to another school to play some more baseball (not sure where yet). Im thinking about doing something with architecture but taking over my fathers drywall business is always an option too....
  • im about to finish my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. only two more months, then 180 hours of internship. woot! (sorry Jason, I stole your saying) but in glad to be almost done, it seems as if i have been there for an eternity. nest, i will be going for Bachelors for sure, and ultimately I would like my Masters, but I dont know how feasable that will be at this point. Im a little bit of a late starter (im 30 right now!)
  • BTW Jumpman, thats pretty impressive! but i agree with you..Im hoping for my Masters just to become a Sheriff??!! lol, but I really hope to get into Executive Security or something along those lines. But good luck to you!!
  • I was studying Environmental Engineering for few semesters (called Diplom Ingenieur in Germany), hoped to can safe the world one day - after I saw its senceless I broked it up LOL.
Just kidding image was to lazy or more a kind of unmotivated because there are so much mechanik and math and chemie that I get affraid of it somehow.
    But never ever give up:

I seems like I will pick it up again in the coming summer-semester - so the world is not lost yet hehe. BTW I would have vote for Al Gore as President of the USA
  • I'm no longer in college, but felt like this post relates a lot to what I do for a living. I work with colleges/universities every day, 27 in fact! The company I work for designs study abroad software, allowing students to apply for international programs at their school, etc... Despite being a computer programmer, my education consists of a BA in Organizational Management with a double minor in Economics and International Business.
  • I just finished my Bachelor of Electro-Mechanics. They teach you how to make industrial machines and such. We had to work on a project where we had to make mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and Hydraulic drawings. I just finished my last year this month. Now off to find me some work image
  • I'm not in school, but this thread gave me an idea.  What does everyone here do for a living?  Answer in this thread I started.:

  • Cool thread idea!

I already posted the thread Jared made (also a cool thread) about my schooling, but I'll elaborate a little. I'm 20 years old. I went to Camden County College for 2 years for Video Game Design and Development. I had a LOT of fun with that major, the people I met, etc., but in the end it just wasn't for me. I finished all the courses I needed for that degree last semester, and just picked up the Associates certificate yesterday. It's an Associates in Applied Science (AAS).

I am switching my major to become a teacher. It's something I always thought I'd enjoy, and now I'm perusing it. I'm going to one more semester at CCC, and then I'm switching to Rowan University (located in Glassboro, NJ). I would like to become a high school or college mathematics teacher.

  • lol I was probally out of school before a lot of you guys were born image
  • HA! Yeah, I'm only 21 image
  • I'm currently in my last year of my Masters Degree in Theoretical Physics at the University of Manchester, England.

I'm currently undertaking research which is titled "Looking for extra dimensions". Its basically trying to get some numbers and calculations out of things like string theory & quantum electrodynamics to see if they match and to see if they are actually correct in the real world. String theory is the theory of choice because it looks like it could work but it needs more dimensions than we currently see (3 space, 1 time), so my calculations, models and programs will calculate measurable observables like mass etc using higher numbers of dimensions (starting with 5 then probably on to 6)

Hopefully this time next year I'll be doing my Ph.D alongside a BSC degree in Mathematics.
  • sophmore in highschool

  • I don't know why but I expected you to be like 6' 5" 275 or something. You should post a pics in the Picture thread in introduce yourself. I always like seeing what everyone looks like. Unless your not supposed to. I have heard before that cops aren't suppose to freely post pics of themselves on the internet (not sure where I heard that though, I could be crazy) image

lol looks like your off to a good start. my biggest piece of advise for all younger guys is dont neglect your back. Its one of the least fun parts of the body to work but as you get older a good strong back will help out.
  • I knew you were using a T-bar, but I don't know what you are holding in the pic, LOL. Had to bust your balls a bit Will image

  • Im going to Devry for video game programming. I have about 2 years left for my bachelors.
  • Yeah, I know what you mean, Doug. I'm not one of those guys who goes to the gym to work their chest, abs and arms. I look up to Arnold (saw a picture of him on your wall). It's all about working everything to get your entire body in great shape. My back is actually my strongest body part. Although my Lats need a bit of work. Lol, I love how this school thread turned into this...
