How fast is your weiner?

This qualifies as the weirdest thing I've found inside a purchase. It was stuffed in with some random plastic bags and scrap paper as padding for this auction:

Now the games were a good deal (Although they both SUCK IT royally. The Advance is a heretical  "remastering" of SMB2 and it's abyssmal, and Wario Land 4 is just convoluted and NO FUN) but this little gem just made the purchase.

  • Hahaha. Awesome find.
  • Haha. Dan, you are mistaken. I slipped that in with the Pokemania!

I figured you'd get a kick out of it. image

There's a racetrack near here (Ellis Park) that does this every year!

It's quite a scene, man. They also put jockeys on top of ostriches and camels from time to time and race those.
  • ^ YES now that makes sense. I knew it was one of my GB purchases but actually I didn't find it until I reused the package to ship something else. Thanks Gordon it made my day.
  • now SMB2, and Warioland were total losses. image
  • The fact that they've successfully sustained it for 5 years it's what surprises me the most.
  • ^ They've not only sustained it, they've been forced to expand it to include more race dates/dogs!

It's all for charity, which adds a lot to it's popularity I'm sure.

Glad to know it gave you a chuckle, Dan!

PS - They sell T-Shirts (that are otherwise won from winning a bet on the dogs) for $10 after the event is over. If anyone wants me to pick up some extra shirts for them next summer, pm me and I'll remember you when it comes back around. It's usually a weiner dog with the text "You wanna piece of me?" along with the name of the event.
  • Very nice Dan, did you happen to find a surprise from the Wiener dog in the box as well? image
  • That's so awesome...
  • find of the year

    lol
  • BEST FIND EVER!!! image
  • my weiner is slow, unless you drop food on the floor, then she is the fastest weiner alive! she is a big fat hog and looks like a woodchuck when she runs
  • Classic, a Guy still holding his weiner after it's spent, LOL

I used to bartend at Ellis Park from 2000-2002. I moved and heard that place was leveled by tornadoes! Good call me! Nice stuff, btw.

  • I LOVE two year old thread bumps!! Gonna have to dig up some of my own!
  • My weiner is also too slow. And not to forget vicious. He'd just try to fight all of the other weiners.
  • I am sad that I did not get to see this race.

A tornado did rip through there in November of 2005 and it tore out the secondary grandstand (next to the paddock) completely, along with the large results board across the finish line, and also threw a starting gate across the field onto it's side. This all happened in the middle of the night, though, so nobody was hurt at the park. It caused some pretty gnarly damage, though, for sure. The tornado did kill several people in a trailer park on the east side of Evansville.

Ellis put up a plain white tent with a "beer garden" underneath it where the grandstand was, and they built a fancy new results board with a big video screen. But then there was a labor dispute the following summer with the new owner, people went on strike and as far as I know it never got resolved... so yeah, you missed out on lots of fun stuff. The owner even threatened to close the track completely at one point. It was like a soap opera over there for a while.
  • haha... you should include that in a sale on NA if you ever ship anything to another member
  • The funniest thing you'll ever see is a wiener dog scampering on ice. They just run in place and don't even realize it's a futile effort. Wiener dogs are friendly and loyal but not always that bright.
