Weird nes controller

recently someone sent me a nes controller in the mail and to my surprise when i got it it was like a snes controller shape with red a and b buttons, and the slanted start and select buttons like on a snes controller, anyone know what this is

  • pic might help
  • i guess this is uncommon ill get a pic tommorow
  • that is a very common controller style from overseas...not so much in the USA. I have a few different NES clones that sport this type of control pad. You can also find Genesis lookalike pads for the NES very easily from overseas....especially Brazil.
  • Hard to tell if it is common or uncommon by just a description. There are soooo many controllers out you almost have to get a pic for people to know. By the sounds of it I don't think I have seen it before, but hard to say for sure. Post a pic later this evening image

I know, that's what I was thinking. Lets see if we hit the nail on the head. image
  • Also what I was thinking.
  • thats the one i have
  • Those came with the top loaders, FYI
  • cool, they rare at all, or just awesome lookin
  • A little harder to find than the usual square looking NES controller, but nothing to get excited about.
  • well its still awesome looking, i love it
  • Nintendo was stilling selling them online until only a few years ago believe it or not.

Speaking of which, anyone ever order manuals from them? They all say it may be a photocopy, but I'm wondering if it's ever an original

This seems to pop up a lot...some time ago I remember someone saying they ordered a bunch and got all photocopies
  • I bought 5-6 from them and they were all copies image They are very well done copies mind you, but was a waste of money...

  • how does the controller feel by the way?

I remeber when they were selling the toploaders for $50 at Walmart. There were tons of them, and NOBODY wanted them. I thought that was such a crock. I did get pissed at the design of the "dogbone" controllers becuase they emulated the SNES too much. It almost seemed like they were trying to fool people into thinking the Top Loader was a SNES.

But, im over it. That was like 15 years ago...
I should have bought some of those brand new top loaders...
  • Dogbones feel great, the dpad and buttons are the same layout/size/pressure as original controllers. The A/B are angled but I never notice it. With our old man hands the curved edges are nice image
  • after getting older, i can see how these controllers can be beneficial.

Too bad they are hard to get cheap.
  • I hate the dogbones, I can't play worth a lick with them.
