My name is Jon and I am interested in NES collecting, I dunno it was spur moment. I figure most of the games are cheap any so what the hell? If you guys have any tips for me they would be greatly appreciated.
welcome to the site Jonathan. It is true that this can be a cheap hobby to have, but it can be extremely time consuming. What most people will tell you to do is search locally at flea markets, pawn shops, etc. and then if you're buying online on eBay, buy in bulk and sell off what you don't want/need. Reselling is the cheapest way to build a collection.
Hi Jon! First tip: use our free collection tool. You can pick which games you want to eventually own and add them to your list, and check them off as you acquire them.
Second, buy in lots. You'll pay less per cart, and sometimes you'll get a rare. Try to pay between $1 and $2 per game, and be sure there are a good number of games you recognize in each lot. Most lots on eBay will be like 25 no-name commons, and all the lots will be the same damn commons. Won't help you out! You want to buy from ex-players, not major resellers. Look for people with 100-ish feedback to pick them apart.
thanks guys, I think I will start scouring the local flea market for good NES deals first; it's local and there are literally hundreds of games to choose from on some days. I think my first goal will be acquiring the six Mega Man games.
