Rarity and desirability reputations
It's interesting, I think, that titles that aren't really super rare still can fetch a fair price.
Three that come to mind are Snow Bros, Mighty Final Fight, and Battletoads/DD. All 3 games are fun in my opinion, and they aren't dirt common. Snow Bros. stands out in that it's the highest. Mighty FF and BT/DD usually can get half Snow Bros.' price. Do you think it's because that game is more popular or because it's gotten a reputation as being worth a lot of $$?

Probably a little of both. Also, thanks to Etler's rarity list, noob sellers tend to think the games are worth more than they realy are, and noob buyers think their worth paying for. However, I think the price is also partly because of the popularity of those games. Overall, the boxed copies of snow bros usually go for a decent price, only the carts are slightly overpriced.
