The rarest/most valuable game you owned ... as a child
I reorganized some carts on my shelf last night and I starting poking through my games a bit. I got to thinking about which ones I owned as a kid and it made me wonder:
What's the rarest/most valuable game I got back when the NES was still being produced?
After a quick glance through the database, working my way down the list sorted by rarity, I found out that as a child I owned exactly one game that's an R6, Lemmings.
Other that that I had five R5's: F-15 City War, Hook, Mega Man 5, North & South, and Toobin'.
Cross checking this with the most recent ezine price guide, the final results are:
Rarest Game: Lemmings
Most Valuable Game: Mega Man 5
Nothing horribly exciting, but it was fun to find out where my original collection stood by today's standards. So what's your rarest and/or most valuable game from back in the day? Who out there was lucky enough to have Bubble Bobble Part 2 or Little Samson as a child, even if you sold them off at some point?

What ticks me off is I had all 50-somthing boxes NM ( i opened them with a knife leaving the plastic on them and only took out the game, sleeve and manual) an placed the box on a shelf until my family moved in 2000. I came home to pack them up to move and my mother had tossed them out.
Trog, Rampart, Dudes with Attitudes
My friend did have Bubble Bobble 2 though, and it was like his favorite game.
I had quite a few transformers.. The original optimus prime and megatron I think.. I had a ton of heman figures too, but I have no idea if any of them were worth anything. No special NES games for sure. We mostly rented.
Out of ALL my toys the most valuable was Fortress Maximus (the gigantic 24" tall Autobot leader/base for the G3 Headmasters)
I had a big box gyromite
How was it playing with R.O.B as a kid? Did you find Gyromite entertaining?
I had Tombi 2 (one of my favourite games of all time) and Legend of Kartia (also extremely good RPG), but I sold them both
I collected NES when I was younger (was more of a SNES kid), hence I ended up with those games at the time. I'm glad I was wise enough to keep them sealed (I was around 12 when I got them), especially considering I did open some other things that were thought to be rarities back then.
I can remember I had a bunch of the black box games (not DK Math as who'd want that), at least MM 1-3, Zeldas, Metroid, SMB 1-3, Ice Hockey, Double Dragon 1-3, Tengen Tetris, Baseball Stars, Friday the 13th, Punisher, pretty much every single Capcom title except C&D RR 2. First thing I ever bought for NES was my Deluxe set. Nothing really rare at all but alot of nice titles.
SNES - Earthbound
NES - maybe Destiny of an Emperor or River City Ransome
I remember picking up part one with my father. It was a great day.
I too remember this, at the Toys R Us in Fresh Pond. I still remember the vid-pro card section of the store and bringing the cards up to this weird two way mirror booth thing to pick up the actual game.
As far as rarest game growing up, like Matt said we had all 6 Mega Man games, we also had a Top Loader new from the store. Not a game of course, but still uncommon enough.
When I was a kid I actually had a CIB Flintstones 2 that my uncle had given me from his video rental store. Sadly it was sold in the mid 90'S when I got into PC gaming.
Really? How much did you get for it?
