Family Fun Fitness: Basic Set

Recently I have been trying to do some research to help me ascertain the relative scarcity of the non -1 FFF AW box, but now I'm stumped. Here's the problem:

As we all know, Athletic World was originally bundled with the FFF Basic Set, but the question that's picking at my brain is whether or not it was bundled as a loose cart or as a boxed copy with the non -1 AW box. My second question related to this is, was the non -1 AW box sold apart from the FFF basic set, and if so, was it also yanked when SE was (purportedly) yanked from store shelves? Answering these questions would go a long way in helping to determine the non -1 AW box's rarity relative to SE. It was on the market for a few months longer than SE (since it was released in July as opposed to September) but if it was pulled when SE was, it should be *almost* as rare.

I'm also trying to figure out if the non -1 box AW version was sold *only* within the FFF Basic Set so I will know whether or not it it should be added to my "To Be Complete" list stickied above.

Anyway, I know these are difficult questions, but can anyone here provide any insight or give some definitive answers?

  • ...and another question: has anyone seen/heard of a non -1 FFF AW box being sealed in the standard plastic wrap as opposed to the round black sticker seal as shown here:

If not, I'm going to be leaning more towards the probability that it only came bundled in the FFF Basic Set, and that it was bundled CIB.
  • guess only someone that bought a pad new would know for sure
  • mine has the sticker seal for what that is worth, hangtab box of course.

  • Well, I can say with some level of certainty that none of the PAL Family Fun Fitness sets came with a boxed Athletic World. AFAIK they all came with just the cart + manual. If I'm not mistaken the first PAL release was in the Benelux area, and this one included a PAL 5-screw Athletic World cart with USA front label (I assume that Bandai wanted to use up their remaining production inventory for the game...I also take it that when Nintendo of America bought the rights, they only did so for the United States and not for other regions of the world?). Later releases included more region specific labels (EEC, ITA, and I think also AUS). I have seen two different EEC Athletic World labels (with different seals; both US style seals) that made me wonder whether one of them came from an individual release copy of PAL Athletic World, but I've never seen a PAL one for sale in a box period here.

Anyway, just thought I'd share this info incase it could be useful for anything. image
  • Well, this auction was timely image

    FFF Set on German eBay

It seems to answer many of my questions above, except for one: did the FFF AW come ONLY with the FFF Basic Set or can someone out there verify it being sold separately? If I don't get any verification in the next few days, I'm going to go ahead and add FFF AW to the "To Be Complete" list.

  • I don't know if someone here had him end it...but this seems like a very similar situation i found myself in almost a year ago...all i can say is that the seller is in germany and this is an NTSC item...I propose FRAUD and be on high alert if you're paying for this
  • Actually this isn't the first FFF Athletic World to appear overseas (though it is the first I've seen with the box) so I wouldn't go judging fraud yet. Plus he gave 4 separate pics of it so I think I would feel safe in the sale. That is a very nice box though.
