Nesboy43's Awesome Ebay Find

UPDATE: Says the guy is no longer registered ebay user, gonna call them today once I got home from school ARGHHHHHH!

While it may not be related to NES I was lucky enough to score not only 1, but 3 of these from the seller, there were 6 but by the time I finished buying the 3rd one the others were gone.

  • Not to alarm you, and I hope you get your stuff, but this guy looks like a scammer. $25 is the magic amount to where Paypal tells you to go F*** yourself because they couldn't recover anything from the "seller".
  • Plus, his last four positive feedback (that he received today) are from items that he sold TODAY.
  • Well if someone else wants to take the gamble, he has a bunch of Left For Dead 2's up for like half the price of anyone else.
  • man you guys are scarring me lol, well I hope for the best as I have already paid, if something happens I'll bug paypal enough to where they give me my money back, and my payment would be 75$ not 25 because I purchased 3. Thanks for looking out for me guys!

Edit: Also one of the feedback left today is by someone with over 200 feedback, I would hope its an item he received and not a person persuaded to give feedback

Edit 2: He just listed multiple copies of a game that came out just yesterday for 25 as well, maybe this is just too good to be true
  • Did you pay for all 3 separately or together?

My point with the feedback is that they are probably his buddies that he had jump on his auctions. Why would you leave feedback for a seller the same day you buy something?

It was immediate payment required so I bought 'em separately. So paypal will refuse to refund it?
  • Also now they have Ebay Buyer protection which says it will refund any item not recieved
  • They can. I had an issue with a seller that scammed me out of 43 bucks. They claimed that they could only recover $18 for me after some bullshit $25 fee or something like that.

It's been a few years (bought a Saints Row for 360 the week it came out).

Hope I'm just overreacting, but from the looks of things, I'm hoping more that you get your money back from this than anything.

***EDIT: Maybe you'll be good with the Ebay buyer protection.  Hadn't thought of that.

  • Thanks again man for looking out for me I really appreciate it
  • Since the game recently game out, and he's selling them cheap, he probably stole them from Wal*Mart or Best Buy. I worked at Best Buy for awhile and we had someone do this. It's easy and quick cash since it's stolen product. You'll probably get them though.
  • I'd be more inclined to believe that he actually had these if the price was a little different, and he didn't have the shady feedback.

I thought the same thing at first (with them going out the back door of some retail place/fell off the back of a truck), but now he's just going nutty listing popular stuff at 25 bucks a title.
  • Well as of now there is no legit reason I can use to cancel transaction so I will just have to see what happens
  • He's sold laptops in the past and currently selling a TV fairly cheap. My hypothesis still stands.
  • you gotta admit though, it looks fishy as hell, just reading the feedback on his profile you can kind of tell. the last four feedbacks look like they were made with sockpuppet accounts. Notice the last three are of the exact same game with the only difference being that 2 are on 360 and 1 was PS3.

Now, I'm not saying you will not receive your stuff as I'm sure you will, but if I were you I'd pay close attention to this guy.

Ask the guy for a picture of anything he's currently selling with a piece of paper with your name written on it.  Or ask if you can pick up something locally if you win it.

I'll bet you a SMB/DH that you get no response.

  • Man, I went from being uber-happy to very concerned in just an hour

I wouldn't be mega-concerned.  From reading over that new Ebay Buyer Protection, I think you'll end up in good shape, you just may have 75 bucks tied up in limbo for a bit.
  • One of the first online lessons I ever lerned was the "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is". The good news is you shouldn't have a problem getting your money back. I lerned my lesson the hard way, back in the day before there were any sorts of buyer protection image
  • ya it doesnt look good, lol look at all those negative feedbacks, that blows dude!

Just contact ebay, you'll get ur cash back

    Jeremy

  • No description, no effort?

    No deal!

    That's my guideline.
  • His feedback looks crappy.
  • Gotta agree...if it sound too good, most of the time, it is. I found a seller who had Ds lite systems for $20 a lick. I bought like $300 worth and it was a bust. Gotta watch those stock photos too. Lots of time, those can be a dead give away.
  • ok Update, it says the guy is no longer a registered ebay user, so Im just gonna open resolve a problem for all of the items and see what happens
  • im definetely gonna call them, do you guys think I have a good chance of getting my $ back, hopefully since he was probably booted from ebay, all his funds are on hold
  • Yeah, you shouldn't have any problem getting your money back. Might take a little bit, but you should get it all back.
  • Just got off the phone with an Ebay rep, he said that I need to wait 3 more days before they can do anything, but ensured me that Im protected so all is good
  • Wonder how much he made and ran off with. He was smart about it (used an established ebay account so he probably had a Paypal debit card in hand already).

If he sold 300 items at 25 bucks a pop (which the last time I checked his completed auctions, he had that number easily), he would only be limited to how much he could have pulled out per day with the debit card.
  • What was this thing? I'm curious!
  • It was a whole bunch of things. The dude listed an insane amount (like at least 20 of each title) of several newly released 360/PS3 games with $25.00 BINs.
