Took a chance on a no feedback seller

http://shop.ebay.com/160404521187

Basically a complete control deck, thirteen games (some with manuals) and a game genie. Manuals are:
Anticipation, SMB/DH, Top Gun, Tetris 2, Bart vs. The Space Mutants, Zelda II: and Blades of Steel.

So, hopefully I won't get burned by a new seller and I can post pictures of what I think is a pretty decent find for $50+Shipping. Also ordered a new 72-pin, so I'll be doing my first restore as well.

Comments

  • should be fine, usually no feedback means that they just joined to sell an item or two. thats a great deal btw.
  • Seems alright I suppose but that's more than I'd pay if I were reselling. You'll be happy to know that a Game Genie + Book should net you $12-$15 after fees on ebay though.
  • I would have given you that same deal - $5 image Oh well, glad to see you got a NES image
  • Did you order a power brick from somewhere?
  • It said hook-ups included in the listing. Pictures didn't show the manuals, 6 of the games, nor the Game Genie / book combo.

    No, I did not.

  • Hopefully it comes with one, especially since she mentioned testing the system.

Well, he/she said that it came with all the hookups. Hopefully this includes a brick. I might call the two vintage stores in the area to see if they have any, just in case.

  • That's not a bad idea anyway. If you plan on reselling stuff at any point, you'll probably want to pick up authentic NES power bricks anytime you see them for five bucks or less in the wild.
  • Ahhhh missed the instruction manuals and game genie portion of the listing. I just skimmed over the pics image I would say you didnt do bad then image

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the find. Hopefully the seller is genuine and everything is working well.

i dont recommend this ... i've done this and wasted $1-2 on a useless paper weight
  • ^^^Well, I meant working ones. Got a few paperweights myself.

So to clarify my earlier comment, if you see them at a retail shop of sorts (where you could easily test or return), and they have them for five bucks or less, snatch 'em up.    If Billy-Jim-Bob at the flea market has a box full, you may want to pass them up.

  • OK, I received the package and everything was as advertised. Pictures are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42392983@N04/sets/72157623411450631/.

    So, in all, received:

NES with 2 controllers, grey zapper, brick and RF switch.

Game Genie w/Manual (in pretty good shape)

Nintendo Game Atlas (in pretty rough shape)

    Games:

    Double Dribble

    SMB/DH (with manual, missing cover)

    WrestleMania

    Anticipation (with Manual)

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

    Tetris 2 (with Manual)

    Blades of Steel (with Manual)

The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants (with Manual)

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (with manual, missing cover)

    Golf

    Operation Wolf

    Top Gun (with manual)

    and, surprisingly,

    Pro Wrestling (5 Screw)

Should I be excited about this? It was $60/shipped and everything appears in great shape. I'm going to hook it up to a TV and test it out later tonight. I have a 72-pin that I ordered as well, wondering if I should go ahead and swap it out or test what I've got first.

    Overall, very happy here.

If you don't have a NES unit to test them on at a thrift or something you can get an outlet plug it into you can plug it in, and tap it on your tounge. If you get a zap it works! Don't worry, it's nothing that can hurt you! =)

I believe the 3 screw is harder to find than the 5 screw.  Even then, it might be worth an extra $1 at most.
  • really? I have 2 copies of the 3 screw version. Are you sure?
  • Neither version are rare, actually.
  • Pro Wrestling variants aren't rare or in demand image It is, however, a fun game.

Well, if you leave it on your tongue long enough.....  image

I did that once with a laptop power cord.  Much more kick than a 9 volt battery.
