Slightly Messed Up Mega Man 2 - Help!

So I just got Mega Man 2 in the mail today from Ebay. It was running great until I noticed some small popping noises in the background. I shrugged it off as a minor annoyance that could probably be fixed by cleaning the game connector later. BUT, when I got to Flash Man's stage, the music is clearly fucked up (and VERY annoying obvs). I've cleaned the connector a bunch of times but its still happening. I don't have a new 72 pin installed on my Nintendo, but I'm not willing to put the blame on that (yet) since I haven't run into any problems like this with my other games. Any advice guys?

  • maybe the game was wet at some point, then got air dryed and the chips inside are messed up
  • If that happened then I'm assuming there'd be water damage to the label, but the label looks perfectly fine.
  • Does this happen in any other games? I heard that if you use a generic AC adapter, it can cause weird popping in some games. Maybe this is what you are hearing.

Then again, maybe I'm totally out to lunch.

I agree a 3rd party or faulty AC adapter is the likely culprit here.

  • I swear I've heard this same problem before a looooong time ago. I think the culprit landed up being the power source. Not to mention I remember the problem being with Mega Man 2!
  • Changed the AC adapter; still some small popping in the background but everything else is fine. Thanks guys.

    LOL, I love this guy!
  • What kind Of AC adapter did you change it to?
  • It also wouldn't hurt to open the cart up and take a good look at the inside and make sure nothing looks out of order.
