Problems with Top-Loader?

I have two top-loaders right now. One of them was returned to me by a customer who said it would only work with some games and not others, so I took it back and tested it, and sure enough, it only works with certain games (Kirby and Mario 3 work perfectly, Tetris 2 took a few tries and Ironsword and Mario Bros/Duck Hunt wouldn't work at all). I tested these same games on my other top-loader and they all worked perfectly, first try.

Has anyone had a similar problem and is there anything specific I should do besides clean the system out?

I've never had a problem with a Top Loading NES expect I heard on some TV sets will show some vertical lines on the screen. I've never had that problem tho with the 3 TV's I have

I also have one with a problem. Mine powers on, but it does not display or output the game. It just turns black. Is there a way to fix the video on it?

take a piece of cardboard and cut a few pieces the width of a game..

starting with one piece, insert it into the cart slot, if it's too loose, try 2 pieces together, use the cardboard to clean the pins.. It's worked for people in the past. I highly recommend trying it to clean a top loader's pin connector.

Thanks for the advice Paul. I actually plan on taking it apart and giving it a serious cleaning later on, but I am pessimistic about that fixing the problem
