Super Metroid

Hi, I'm in Norfair in the room with the acid where you go to the right and use the power bomb to reveal a statue.  You are supposed to roll into a ball in the hand of the statue and it will grab you and remove a plug and drain the acid so you can go to the exit in the lower right.

However it does nothing at all when I roll into a ball in the statues hand.  Is this a glitch in the game, or am I missing something?

Thanks

  • not sure if i remember much about this game but it has been a while. isnt there a way to make your ball spin? try that, if of course that exists on the game. sorry its been 14 or so years.

  • Maybe you're on the wrong statue?
  • I'm pretty sure it is the correct statue, and there is no special move to make the ball spin. The only thing I can think of is if something needs to be done first. Like beating the boss or sub boss of Norfair, or maybe some item needs to be in your inventory? For now I'm just ignoring that part and continuing on with the game. I will go back to it once I finish the rest of Norfair and see if that does the trick.

Just encase you are wondering I'm working on making a screen shot map of the game. Once I get it finished I will post a message about it with a link to it.

  • As per GameFAQs, you just turn into a ball, and the acid drains.

    Start at section 4.8

Yea, I actually went there first to try to figure out what I needed to do.  That is why I thought it might be a glitch in the game, because I did what the FAQ said but it did not work.  I'm still thinking there is some item I'm missing or a boss needs to be beaten first.  It's possible the order the person did it in the FAQ made a difference.
