Sega Saturn Question

I am currently selling a Saturn with circular buttons on eBay. A couple of guys have e-mailed me asking to disassemble the system and take a picture of the lens for them. Does anyone know what they are looking for? I have asked both of them and neither have replied or bought the system after I sent a picture, so I have no idea what they are talking about. Any ideas?

  • they're looking for this chip. what you have is a "32-pin" model 2 saturn, which is desirable as it's the easiest to chip for playing cd-r's. the other variations have either a chip with 64 pins in place of the one circled, which is possible to chip but it's not as reliable, or a totally different setup which is usually not successfully chipped.

model 1 saturns can be chipped, but the chip has to be rewired and cut down, and it doesn't always fit as neatly inside the saturn case.

  • Interesting. My buy it now must be overpriced then, no one has bought it. I'll throw this picture up on the auction. Thanks for the response. You know what these usually go for?
  • it's been a while since i've watched them closely, but $35-40 shipped the last i remember. i'd give $30 shipped right now if you're trying to unload it, or if you put it up for auction i'd bid to that point.
