Not sure if this is a Find, but here's what I got today.....

Being that this is my first foray into the Finder's Forum, I'm not sure if this qualifies as a super find, but while killing a few minutes at the local Play N Trade waiting for my girlfriend to get home from work, I picked up for NES

Golf (black box)
Jack Nicklaus Golf
Bandai Golf
F-17a Stealth Fighter
Silent Service

all CIB's and for the nice price of 99 cents each!

I've never seen boxed NES games at play N Trade, but they were there today! (and not there tomorrow!)

They range in condition from 6/10 to 8/10, but still not bad methinks.

Comments

  • F117A isn't exactly expensive, but it's definitely tough to land CIB. Nothing else special, but a buck a piece is always a score image
  • Not bad man u can't go wrong at a $1 a pop for a CIB.
  • Nice score. Definitely worth .99 each, except for silent service of course image
  • Seen a lot of mention of Play N Trade on the forums. Do they carry a lot of NES games? Anyone got some prices on average games? If they are selling CIBs for $1 they must sell them cheaper than a lot of local game stores right.
  • And, Sir Scoggs, What ever do you have against Silent Service????????????

They Play N Trade I went to places it's emphasis or thew newer systems, with maybe 3 feet of shelf space dedicated to older systems such PS!, NES and SNES around $1.00-$10.00 each. They do have a glass case for some of the games they consider rare, mostly it's just overpriced Marios and Zeldas though.
  • I went to a P&T today and picked up 13 games for $2.99 each (except a couple were .99 cents). Included was a Zelda 2 CIB for $2.99 (rang up as Adventures in the Magic Kingdom, I pointed it out and the employee shrugged it off), Jungle Book and Cliffhanger.

They also had Final Fantasy for $20 and Dragon Warrior 2 for $15. So....I guess this doesn't help.
  • very nice
  • My local PnT has gotten me some really nice gems for my collection - Bubble Bobble 2 cart (mint), Dragon Warrior IV CIB, King Neptune, and some more I can't think of at the moment. I guess it's random what a PnT will have.
  • yea PnT is a hit or miss. Since I am the most frequent retro customer at mine the owner listens to whatever I say when it comes to pricing. I brought him a stack of like 50 doubles and a loose complete power glove and he wanted to gimme like $20 in store credit. After talking for awhile I ended up with 5 loose NES games he had I needed for the collection but I didn't want to pay cash for since they were overpriced, a couple rare 2600 games he had, and $38 in store credit. My local PnT also will sell CIB at the same price as cart only. the only CIB he has atm are Mario 3, Donkey Classics, Tetris, and Dr. Mario. And since all the cart only versions are overpriced, it makes the CIB price just about right I guess.
  • Yep some of the most common and least-valuable games in the collection...but as was said, a buck a game, can't miss!
  • Found a couple interesting items in there though...A Konami "More Explosive Action for your Nintendo" pamphlet which looks like a catalogue, "10 Ways to Stay Happy" by Ultra, same type of thing, tons of NP ads, and, something that kind of doesn't belong....A Tengen cardboard sleeve...Go figure.
  • Bandai Golf is awesome... or at least I think so. One of the few we had as a family back in the 80's.

I just wanted to quote this for posterity, as I don't believe I'll ever hear those four words uttered in the same sentence again.

  • The statement that Bandai Golf is awesome is just plain ludicrous.

    DON'T BE RIDICULOUS!

I thought the same about Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes, but it really hasn't aged well.  Back in the day it was probably phenominal, but it hasn't stood the test of time very well.
