Battle Kid Fan Site Fundraiser

Hello, I got the go-ahead from Sivak to create a Battle Kid fansite. I was told it would run about $37 for a domain name and dns something or another. Dain agreed to host the site for free!

I know $40 isnt much, but I'm really broke and instead of ponying up all the $$$ myself I figure Id ask here.
So if anyone wants to see a site with Maps, Walkthroughs, Videos, MP3s, Sprites, Art, interviews Etc Etc for Battle Kid I ask that you please donate a small amount $1-5

Any revenue the site may potentially earn will go to fund NA

Any money collected in excess of the website establishment Fee's will also be donated to NA!!!

If you already have free hosting, there shouldn't be any other fees. Should be about 10 bucks for a domain name, then you're all set.

Really good idea, though. I look forward to seeing this.

If you've never registered a domain name, be careful. Some people don't realize that some registrars make all your personal information public. Including your phone number. I don't think GoDaddy does this, but I'm not 100% on that. You may need to pay extra to hide it.

Thanks for the tips. I really know nothing in this area, I'm going by what Dain says and I totally trust him.
Aside from the doman (which ended up being like $11) Dain recommended

I have not looked into it to know if its necessary, less/more expensive, im just going by what Dain recommended.

They charge extra to hide this information, like most registrars. I've never felt the need to really hide it though.

The extra $27 is for DNS hosting. The reason people typically do not pay this is when the site is being hosted by a large company (like Yahoo! or Google), where they have their own in-house DNS hosting. You pay for hosting which pays for DNS -- we don't have DNS servers at NA, so we have to pay it; the alternative is that your web address never resolves.
