Replacing dead batteries

Does anybody on here do battery save swaps on SNES games? A friend is about to head out and grab a game for me but he nor the seller has an SNES to test. I don't have any soldering skills, just wanted to know if anyone on here knew of anyone that provided this kind of service?

Any helps ASAP would be great! Thanks guys!

  • Does anybody actually provide the service? I know there are a lot of tutorials, but looking to see if anybody does it for a fee.
  • I know the PnT in Tacoma does it for a small fee...other than that..I would just do it myself...the articles are great and help out a ton.
  • Hell, I live in WA, and I would be happy to do it for ya...
For a fee...maybe a 6 pack...or I could just show you how to do it...
  • I do it for $8-$10. That includes a new battery, a battery holder installed so its easily changeable next time it dies, and return shipping. NES/SNES/Genesis only.  I can do Game Boy games, but its a little more since the battery is harder to find and more expensive.

I hear ya on that one. I have to go to the Batteries Plus store in town to find them...PITA, but definitely worth changing.

yea I get them at an independent small battery shop in town.  I just got in a huge shipment of perfect battery holders for NES/SNES/Genesis that fit right on the board and have no clearence issues closing the carts,  Im pretty excited about it lol.
  • good luck with the service!

thanks sir, a member here is sending me quite a few, and another couple more are insterested at the moment.  I hope it goes well.  Eventually with the profits I would like to buy a Retrode and CopyNES as suggested by bunnyboy so I can back up saves to add extra value, but that will be awhile since both products are not really cheap.
