Need help setting up a security system for my new shop
Hey guys n' gals, I am moving into a new space to operate my eBay business out of and it not locked up very tight. What I am looking for is some kind of security system. Specifically I am wondering if anyone knows of any type of security camera (wired or wireless) that broadcasts to a hard drive/flash drive/etc which can record the footage. Basically I am looking for a camera that sends footage to a hard drive at night so I can easily view it on my PC in case a break-in or something like that happens.
I am looking to keep this as close to $100 as possible. Does anyone know of any viable setup? Thanks!!

use a normal camera that can record when charging, get a 32 or 64 GB SDHC card, have the charging cable run through your ceiling tiles and plug into the next room over, if you do this people would have to pass the camera to unplug it, and then even if they do you will have the battery on the camera to keep it going. This also will keep your camera going if the power is out.
I know this isn't really the ansewer you were looking for, but it would work
EDIT: Sorry, this would be more like $300.

And a sign that reads "Beware of the rabid gamer"
You should have a security system installed and monitored by a company like Brinks or Sloman. A camera isn't gonna prevent anything from being stolen. You'll just have a video of it happening. If a thief breaks in and hears that siren, he's gonna leave before he takes anything. Plus, just having the Sloman Shield sign in your window will discourage people from even trying.
Thanks for the reply - I actually live in an area with a very low crime rate and it is pretty unlikely that any would-be thieves would be serious enough to continue while they are on camera. The type of people around here who would steal from me would be in their teens most likely. I plan on combining the camera with an extra deadbolt and a sign on the front door, and a motion sensor with an alarm. I think I can get this done for around $150, compared to three or four times that much for a custom solution from one of those companies.
Good advice, though. Thank you!
^^^ I think the bigger point of what Jared was saying is that if you DIY a system, you won't have a monitoring service. Without a monitoring service, you don't have a system that will automatically scramble the police.
Yep and that is a good point, but basically I am just looking for a deterrent rather than a high-end system that will actually call police. Also there are some DIY systems I was looking at that let you monitor your camera remotely from any web browser (the camera streams the video in real time to a web server).
If you are just looking for a deterrent, put in a few of those fake cameras with little LEDs in them. That'll cost like $10.
Thanks for the help guys - I ended up putting a badass deadbolt on the door in addition to the normal lock, and putting a motion detector floodlight right above the door and a dummy cam inside and outside of the shop. I really doubt any of the neighborhood kids will be any trouble now
I really appreciate the advice from everyone!
