Can NA Beat Every NES Game in a Year?

  • I've beaten Isolated Warrior today... kinda.

There is a secret 7th stage which is accessable if you make it to the end of stage 6 without dieing once, but I didn't success.
  • Well then you didn't beat it image

I looked into it though, and apparently AdamL got there despite dying, but he didn't get it when he continued. You should be able to get there if you beat level 6 without CONTINUING...might be different for PAL versions, but I'm pretty sure it'd be the same thing between regions.
  • Ah crap. I will give it another shot tomorrow. image
  • 2 more completed: Fester's Quest and Conquest of the Crystal Palace. Picture 176 Picture 177 Picture 180

I might go after all 4 quests of Mystery Quest tomorrow. What funny is that when I made a Walkthrough for it back in 2001, AdamL let me know that there were 4 quests to it. For some reason, it isn't listed in his NES Ending FAQ. Hopefully he'll get this message and add it!

  • Hey, who knows, with renewed interest he might start updating it more often image

BTW, check out the listing for Wizardry II, he pretty much quoted an entire email I sent him image
  • Well, since I'd just played around 6 hours or so of Castlequest for my personal list, and needing a bit of a break, I figured I'd knock off an easy one from my sale pile and did Sesame Street Countdown. God only knows I would've never had it in my pile of "games to not put in storage," so it was either beat it before it sold, or beat it when I have the space to pull my shit out of storage. Surprisingly well done game for one made for toddlers image
  • Dude, good finish on Fester's Quest, I like it, but beating it is a chore and takes some dedication!

WOO HOO! Please knock down Defenders of Dynatron City in my name!

  • I beat Ufouria (PAL exclusive) about 3 weeks ago.

  • I had trouble with one of the later levels on Ufouria myself, but it wasn't that it was a tough section...I was playing on an NTSC console, so everything was sped up...my reaction time was not as sharp as it needed to be image Anyway, up to date now...plus I noticed I miscounted my total, so if anyone suspects their totals are off too, please give me a list of titles that should be scored so I can verify (some may be done by other people, others I may have screwed up the count, but I'd like a list so as to compare the names on the list for an accurate count).
  • Mark off Star Voyager. I've been banging away at it for the past few days and I finally managed to beat it. Now back to Track Meet's Olympics event.
  • Also, I spotted Zeta Daekonu's post in the "Beaten in 2010" thread, and edited it in...if anyone sees a game that was mentioned there that isn't marked off here, please let me know...I don't really want to tear through two threads repeatedly for this. I'll mark what I notice, but that doesn't mean I won't miss stuff image

EDIT: How's that for a pre-emptive strike image
  • Geez, it didn't take me that long to get between the two threads, did it?image
  • I got a quick computer image I just wasn't sure if you were gonna post in both is all, I see, I mark, I post. It's what I do image
  • World Class Track Meet is a bit harder to classify beaten than I thought. Tournament has a definite end when you beat the 6th cpu player, but the Olympics is a tad different. You don't compete with the computer there, only human scores will show at the end. The best I colud think of is getting 100 points on every event, which is super hard for triple jump. What do you think, Wiz? Is 90 points in each event enough, or do we need to go for the full 100 to beat it?
  • If there's no high scores to beat, and no end, I'd call it unbeatable. However, I would say if Tournament mode has an ending, and Olympic Mode does not, then we can simply track the one with the ending. If there were scores to beat on Olympic Mode I'd say they all need beating, but since there isn't then coming in first in Tournament mode should be okay.
  • How are we scoring golf games? In theory "par" would be the default score for most golf games except those with a tournament mode (Atlus Golf Grand Slam for instance). I would assume the tournament would have to be won on those games that have them, yes?

I had my brother yell at me when my life was low to use a potion or invisiblitly potion ont he final boss, since I get too caught up in the action and I usually die.

Well, Mystery Quest and its 4 quests are over. At one point I had maxed out the score, but stupidly fell into some water in the 3rd castle on the 4th quest, losing it all.

  • Stan, that sounds about right. If there's a tourney mode, win the tourney. If not, just shoot par or higher.

James, I'll get that marked up now image And I've done that with a few games too...I tend to not pay enough attention to my life bar to notice I'm about to die image
  • Beat the Blue Dragon mode (hard mode) on Dragon Spirit for the very first time in my life (Had 0 lives remaining!) Okay, time to take a little break...

  • Sunday night playing Caltron 6 in 1 I beat Porter.

It's obviously not the whole game, but it'll get us started on another compilation cart.

Rush n Attack is a really sweet game and definately not easy either. Well done, dude.

  • Just finished up Bomberman. Now on to something else.
  • I just beat Metal Gear. Such a cool game.

Wish I had the patience for Metal Gear.  I really like it, but I usually get killed half way through and don't have the interest to work my way back to the point I left off at.  It is a great game though.  Well done!
  • I think I'm the only one on the planet that liked Snake's Revenge better than Metal Gear. Both are wicked good times though.
  • ^^Thanks Stan. That's the only thing I don't like about Metal Gear, having to backtrack quite a ways if you die. I do agree with you, it is a great game. And Wiz, I love Snake's Revenge as well, almost as much as Metal Gear. It's such a hard and challengeing game, and I think that's why I like it so much. I'm working on it right now and hopefully I'll be beating it for the first time in the near future.

    I just finished TaleSpin.

  • If I counted right, there should be 478 games left to beat.
  • Just beat Snake's Revenge for the first time! Such an awesome game and very challenging too. I probably would've finished it last night, but my NES froze when I was near the end of the game and I didn't feel like having to backtrack, so I decided to finish it tonight.
