Just cause someone else beat the game is no reason not to play. Granted, if you were frustrated and wanted to quit anyway then that's understandable.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite threads of all time, but statements like this make me worry that some people will decide not to play games that they want to just because it's already on the list (or play something they hate because it's not). It's all about fun, guys. Play whatever game you feel like.

Exactly!  Beat what you want, then if it's not marked off the list yet, mention it in the thread.  Or use it to give you an excuse to play something you've never played before, but if you just don't enjoy the game, don't worry about finishing it.  Somewhere down the line, someone will likely like the game enough to play through it.

  • I beat Kid Niki: Radical Ninja today image

Edit: Oh yeah, also put me down for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters. Beaten on max difficulty as all characters.

Kid Niki is a great game with one of the catchiest songs ever. Great choice.

  • Yeah, it's always been a personal favorite of mine! image
  • Me too, although I've never beat it. Fun as hell though!
  • I might try Arkista's Ring. What a great game. As for Nightmare on Elm Street, I've made many attempts, but it's possible. Hudson Hawk, I've given up. (THAT GAME SUCKS!)
  • Ok, I beat GI Joe: The Atlantis Factor. So put me down for that. I almost beat Captain America, i'll work on it more later.
  • I beat Mario is Missing, nothing to be proud of, but I did it!
  • Kickle, just a reminder that you have to go through Arkista's Ring 4 times to get the ending. Just making sure so you don't do it once and think it's finished image

I'll mark down GI Joe: Atlantis Factor and Mario is missing for you guys. And Connor, there's a few games that aren't exactly noteworthy that we've already marked off. I myself took out Sesame Street Countdown and Mario's Time Machine image
  • Hey Wiz, how's Might & Magic coming along?
  • Slowly. Very slowly. I'm only playing maybe an hour or two a day, some days not at all. Basically trying not to burn myself out playing it to the point that I will get bored and never finish it. I have a thread detailing my progress (at least any time I make some major progress or put a fair bit of time into). Usually update it after 2-4 hours of game time, or if a few days pass.
  • Took a break from it for a bit, but today I finally finished Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II. I kind of shunned this game for the longest time when I was younger, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. I really enjoyed it, especially the last chapter. If you're a fan of the first StarTropics, you owe it to yourself to play the sequel.
  • Good job on Zoda's Revenge. I've been stuck on the Dracula chapter for the longest time. I was going to try to beat that one for the list, but I started it last year and I didn't feel like starting over. I didn't really think it would count if the game was mostly played in '09. Hopefully I can actually get through it one of these days.

I know, 4 times, I read it here before I tried image

I don't mind picking up an old save as long as it's not an old save that is strategically positioned at the end boss, know what I mean?  I don't expect someone to start from a new file so long as they have to do a reasonable amount of work to finish the game, not just retrace their steps.  Same goes for passwords.  As long as the game was not previously finished on that save, it's still valid.
  • Pro Sport Hockey where have you been all my life.

Taken down today, it was a challenge, Edmonton came the closest to beating me, after I scored a few goals on myself, but I pretty muched breezed through it. My thumb is sore, this game blows Blades of Steel out of the water.

Edit: I wish there were fights though, so I could pummel those stinking Flyers!

  • 20 years later... I have finally beaten Super Pitfall! image image image

This is a game that has plagued my childhood! I loved it, but never figured out how to beat it.

I have beaten the 1st and 2nd quests of the game.
  • My girlfriend beat Wheels of Fortune: Family Edition tonight? Can I steal her credit? image
  • No, sorry Dustin, but you have to do it yourself. If she signs up though, she can have her own credit image
  • I'll let her know. image

It's just so damn hard. So many letters to choose from.
  • Knock RBI Baseball 2 off of the list.
  • I tried to do Dig Dug II on Sunday, and I got about 30 levels in when I just couldn't take it anymore. That game gets seriously frustrating. Good luck to someone else!
  • Since I've been getting my ass kicked on the last stage of Nightmare, I'm just trying Guardian Legend (what, no one else has beaten it?) and Destiny of an Emperor. Wish me luck!
  • PMS rage helped me to bash the hell out of M.U.S.C.L.E. yesterday night before bed.

As per Adaml's list, I made it to stage 4, fought two more fights, tossed the controller at the TV and screamed bad swears words before sleeping.

Overall, it was a fun night.
  • I finished Legend of the Ghost lion today!
  • If beating the top score counts for this, I beat Balloon Fight. I bow to finish Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves today (I've done it several times in the past.
  • Jorge, I think there may be an end on the "Balloon Flight" mode or whatever it's called, where it counts down from 100 to 0. Not entirely sure about that though, never done it myself and only heard about it from a friend. If there's indeed an end to that though, I'd rather not mark it for a high score, or perhaps just track the modes separately or something.
  • I have done the Balloon trip you mention (100 to 0), when you reach zero, the balloons change color and you continue the trip undefinitely (as far as I know). I have also done that recently.

EDIT: are you talking about the mode where the screen scrolls from right to left, and you have to burst the balloons, and there's electrical sparks, and underneath is the sea with the fish monster?

I found this faq from Gamefaqs: http://www.gamefaqs.com/nes/563386-balloon-fight/faqs/17110

It states that the Balloon Trip never ends.

  • Yup, that's the one. I'll mark you up as having beat the game then image
  • I've beaten Willow this year, if no one else has yet.
