    Likewise.

I do remember the flippers going invisible once while I was playing, but I didn't hear about them reappearing until years later when I read about it online.  150k  sounds like a good personal goal to set!

All this talk about pinball has got me thinking of Kirby's Pinball Land on the original Game Boy.  I loved that game as a kid, and never beat it!  I seem to remember these games randomly, then I want to go back and try to beat it.  The same thing with Conker's Pocket Tales.  I liked that game as a kid, but got stuck on this island where you had to do some really difficult minigames.  Just last month I decided to play it again (I even bothered to go to the store for some double A batteries.)  I got past the minigames area, but couldn't finish the game because I didn't collect all of the hidden items.  Haven't turned it on since.
  • Started playing Super Off Road...even with 99 nitro's and all the money in the world I can not seem to get past level 69 (hee hee) on my best days...has anybody done better? Where does it actually end?
  • just beat Menace Beach

IVAN IRONMAN STEWART'S SUPER OFF-ROAD (Tradewest)
-For years this was one of those games that I thought went on forever. I don't
even remember how many races I went through to mark this game as "beaten"
back when I beat it around 1990. It always bugged me that I wasn't sure
exactly, so for some reason I decided to get back into it, figuring it would
eventually end around the magic number of 255 races. However, I was surprised
when I finished Race 99 and instead of going to the next race after showing
my racer on the stand with the trophy as usual, it went to a high scorer's
screen called "The Ironman Club." Leave it at this screen for a bit and it
returns you to the number of players selection screen. So after all these
years, it turns out we have a definitive answer to a game that I always
thought repeated infinitely. 99 races in all!

    That work for you?

  • I spent the better half of the day, but I finally beat all 4 quests of Arkista's Ring!!! (First time ever!)

I was down to 2 continues and 0 lives remaining when I finished off the Shogun.

  • Dude, you are officially a god amongst men! image
  • Nice work DDCecil!

I just got 200k points on Pinball Game A. I did a few attempts on Game B but just barely passed 100k image
  • I'm not sure if I want to do one point total for pinball (requiring both game types) or if I want to do one for each mode...what do you guys think, has Tom beat it?
  • I say Tom has beaten it.
  • I'd say 150k for each mode. I don't feel like I beat it yet image
  • Well, I'll go with your decision then Tom. If you don't feel like you've beat it, then let me know when you do feel like you've beat it image
  • Alright. Or at least until someone gets 150k on Game B. I'm going to keep working at it.
  • If someone else gets it on Game B only I can always mark you both down as completing it. There's a few games that I've given points for separate quests, there's no reason that separate modes can't be tracked like that as well, however since you're still working on it I'll leave it as unfinished until you decide to stop or someone else knocks out game B.
  • Well, I finally got 150k+ on Game B after a very lucky round (I stayed in the bonus stage for more than 5 minutes) This really took a lot longer than I thought it would.  I was playing with my girlfriend at the time.

Yeah, there's no way to really distinguish between Game A and Game B visually, but just take my word for it image
  • I'll mark you off for it image And the difference isn't anything big, it's just how the ball behaves. Game A has a floaty ball, whereas Game B is closer to what a real pinball table would play like.

Anyway, hopefully within a couple days I'll have Wizardry II knocked off. Made some hefty progress the last couple days...started from scratch yesterday, and am now just boosting levels until I'm able to battle KOD's Gauntlets without getting raped, at which point I'll collect the Staff of Gnilda, recollect the KOD gear again, level up a bit, and go challenge the Demon Lord. All these years I thought I beat the game, then I find out about a hidden boss...joy image On the plus side, it'll be another level of awesome when I finish it off image
  • I got Sky Shark to loop so you can cross that one off too.

Thats how we "beat" those kind of games, correct?
  • Yeah, pretty much. It's what AdamL has as completing the game, simply destroying the bomber at the end.

Oh, and as far as Wizardry II goes, I just "beat" the game, however, I'm not going to mark it as "completed" until I defeat the Demon Lord. I've got a few levels to go before I feel comfortable enough to take him on, seeing as he's a boss character that I've never actually taken on before, but I have no idea if anything happens after killing him off. Regardless, I can't consider it beaten until he's toast, since the mail-in guide says that he must be defeated to truly save Llylgamyn (even though the credits have already rolled). Anyway, depending how much levelling I can get done, I should have it done to my satisfaction in a day or two.
  • Well, after having knocked off the Demon Lord, I must say that it is not necessary to complete the game. Nothing happens. It's almost like it's just an easter egg to give you something to look for after beating the game. Still, I've now seen everything the game has to offer, and it's still one of my favorites.
  • Yay! image

    Congratulations on beating it. image

And I have no other games to report for now. I have been busy... with something else. image
  • Good job on Wizardry II. It looks like a great game, but I haven't played it yet. I just beat Wally Bear and the No Gang. That game really does suck, and it's a lot harder than I anticipated.. but for all the wrong reasons. I mean, at first it seems like an okay side-scroller, but it just gets way too difficult later in the game.
  • Double yay!

My Gauntlet cart got here today and I have a five day weekend this week. image
  • Thanks Tom. I've always said that when played completely unaided, Wizardry II is just balls hard. Like one of the spots in the game, you require a key to get past it, but the key is on the other side, which is completely inaccessable unless you teleport in. Frankly, if I hadn't played it as many times over the years as I have already, I never would have beat it in the amount of time it actually took me to knock it off. I'm thinking the next time I play it is gonna be the time I make my second attempt at a Twin Galaxies submission for it...

And Bea, I have a feeling Gauntlet will be done within the first 2-3 days, because that's just how you roll, and then you'll knock off another game or two. Not that I'm complaining, I just hope we don't choose the same shit image
  • I belive that Gauntlet will take 3 days to complete.

It's long and hard, just the way I like it. image

I'll then take on Alien 3 next. image
  • I thought you said you liked it with vaginas? image
  • I go both ways. image

But serious now. Gauntlet will be tough to beat. Too many levels, and the damned hints too. Gah.
  • I just beat The Chessmaster on the default difficulty setting. Whether that qualifies as beating the game, well, that's up to you image  I beat a few of the higher (average) difficulty settings, but the infinite setting just takes too damn long >:[

    (Besides, I'd probably lose anyway)
  • The infinite setting isn't any harder, it just gives the computer infinite time to search it's database for the "best" move to make. With that in mind, I'm gonna count it as a win for you man.
  • Well, I had considered working on the third game on Sunday Funday to knock it fully off the queue, and then I read up that the third "game" isn't really a game at all and has no real ending. As such, I've made the executive decision to disqualify the third title on Sunday Funday as being unbeatable. This doesn't affect NESMASTER14's completions on the other two titles, as they're still awarded on a per-game basis. It just means that it only has 2 games to track, not 3. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone actually gives a shit.

At this time, I'd like to reiterate that if you feel a title should not be tracked for whatever reason, just speak up and I'll look into it to see if it can have some sort of completion done or if it truly has no ending.
  • Well, making progress...just knocked off the Cleric scenario in Hillsfar. Sounds like the ending is the same regardless of character class, but the path to it is different, so I'm not sure if I should rule it as beaten after one scenario or all. It shouldn't be too tough to finish the other three, but it's kind of a special case...I mean I'm allowing a game to be classed as beaten after one ending if there are multiple endings and one quest, but what about when you take a branched path to a set goal? Feedback?
  • And in the two days I have made it to level 30 with the Valkyrie, and got the two hints so far.

Things get more complicated from now on, since I'm now dealing with levels I have never played before.

With some luck, I'll have a nice ending screen posted here around Sunday.
