Of these, I would recommend hillsfar, Pool of Radiance, and Curse of the Azure Bonds. (if you are into RPGs).  The nes versions are pretty awful, but the PC ones are pretty fun I thought.  They let you keep your characters and move them through the different games.

I think the later games were better.  The Krynn trilogy has nicely updated graphics versus the Azure Bonds series...and you get to fight more dragons!
  • Definitely grab a Commodore 64 emulator while you're at it.
  • If you are thinking 8-bit computers, the Commodore 64, with its vast library of games, is definitely the way to go.
  • cool guys thanks for all the tips. Ive never really been into RPG (never have the time lol) but i love shooters and side scrolling plat-formers the best. I got DOS but i need to get winzip to extract the files because my 45 day evaluation ran out. If anyone has a full version of winzip or knows of a place to get it for a nice deal *wink wink wink* please PM me :-)
  • Google 7zip...it's a free program that does everything Winzip does, plus extracts .rar files. Think it does .iso files as well, although I haven't tried to do that for some time image
  • awesome man u guys know your crap, sorry ive been limping in the world of dial up forever and only have dsl @ work (STILL cant get it where i live can u believe that!) So my downloading knowledge is absent lol.
  • woah my avatar just turned to bacon and skull
  • ok now its back ? lol
  • I think Dain's on the ball this time. Happened to me for a minute or so image
  • If you like shooters...Tyrian 2.0
  • I just ordered the Zork anthology, I have never tried Zork before, can't wait for it to arrive!
  • The first thing I was gonna say was commander keen. I was also a fan of the command and conquer series. There is a domination pack that has a bunch in one set. I was also liked the kings quest games. Sam and max was pretty ok too. If you are looking for c64 stuff, Robocop and double dragon are hilariously bad.
