Welcome to the modern age of the internet.

As much as I love the internet and how it has changed so much for the better... It's also ruined so many things in life we took for granted.
In particular here, the days of bargains and local finds are long gone. The Car boot sales (flea markets) are just flooded with sellers quoting eBay prices. The eBay of 2010 has you bidding against the world, unlike the yester year of bargains to be had.

I guess if im being positive, there are still bargains out there, but less frequent.
  • It is a good article for the masses, but us collectors know the true value of the things and it is constantly changing. For example, that atari game sold for 31k so so much for the outrageous 18k.

I don't really feel like hearing about how video games are negative and the fault of gays and black people.

this just sums up my feelings about game collecting. I also find that because of this, more people are into reselling games to fund there collection than by earning money other ways to fund it. It takes away the "good deals" of yesteryear and makes people have to rush to beat the resellers.

So if someone finds a game for cheap and keeps it in their collection, it's okay, but when someone finds a game for cheap and flips it, it's not?  What if someone finds it for cheap, keeps it, and then sells it off 2 years later after they've completed their collection and they're bored.  Is it okay then?

Times change and you either evolve with the changes or get a new hobby.  15 years ago, everything was cheap because there was no rarity guide.  Did rarity guides ruin collecting?  10 years ago, eBay auctions went much cheaper since there were no free sniping tools.  Did the sniping tools ruin collecting?  Now this top 10 article ruined collecting?  Or resellers ruined collecting?

If you live in the past, you'll never be happy with the present.  None of this is directed at you in-particular Mason, but I see these arguments time and time again.  Those who don't resell blame resellers.  Those who don't use eBay blame eBay.  All of the tools are there for anyone to use freely, and if you don't want to then that is your personal decision and nothing more.

Love how it's still second to Stadium Events in the article even though the Stadium Events was never paid for...someone needs to teach these reporters how to do their homework eh!
