Nintendo of America Inc. photocopied manual

I'm not sure if this deserves it's own thread, and I thought I remembered there being a thread dealing with this, but I couldn't find it.

I bought a lot of SNES from a guy down in Tigard, and in the bottom of the box I found this:

I just thought that it was really bizarre, but really cool.  Nintendo of America actually sent this guy a complete packet of a high quality photocopied Illusion of Gaia manual.

  • They probably still sell this as well
  • So, is it the same quality of paper as the actual manuals?
  • No, it's about the same material as regular printer paper, but the copied parts are semi-glossy, and actually pretty nice. So it's not the same as something printed from home, but it's not really manual quality either.
  • That is what you get when you order from Nintendo. They had the real ones at one point. I got a real Super Metroid and  Mario RPG a while back from Nintendo. I also ordered a NES manual that came photo copied...wonder what one it was, I know I have it somewhere....

  • I have a Final Fantasy one with both maps. There was a discussion about these copies not too long ago somewhere here.
  • I've got a box full of these. Some are black and white, while others are color. I ordered Zelda, Kid Icarus, and Metroid manuals back around 2000 when you had to order them over the phone and they didn't have an online store setup, and they actually sent me the real manuals in brand new condition. The Dragon Warrior copy actually kind of cool. At least the one I got has color copies of both the manual and explorer's handbook, as well as the card showing spell levels, and the maps. The map posters are shrunk to one sheet of paper each, all in color. I essentially ordered 1 of everything they had, it looks like they use black and white copies for the really old agmes (DKJR Math, SMB, etc).
  • Yeah I made a thread about this awhile ago.

Seems like some people got original manuals...I got flamed in my thread because it was a silly thought that I might get an original manual for a not-so-old system.
