I only found 4 sales today on my way to the flea market and none of them had anything even closely game related. There were alot of tables set up at the flea market, but noone had any games, except for the few that always have the same xbox games. The only thing I ended up with today was a VHS tape called "How to Score More Points on Nintendo Games". I have never seen one before but Otto said he has. I think it was worth the buck I paid for it.
Finally no rain and a couple decent finds. Nothing spectacular, but only went to about 6 sales total so I actually did pretty good. The first sale actually listed nes games and other video games in their ad. We got there at 8 even though the ad said 9 and we ended up waiting until 9, but I made sure I was the first one there and even before everything was out I asked about the nes games. There was a small stack and each one was marked $3.00. I started looking them over and checking my list then just asked if he would take $20.00 for the bunch and he said sure. I got the following games: Battle Tank, Double Dribble, Excitebike, Ikari Warriors II, Platoon, Rad Racer, Section Z, Shadowgate, Strider, TMNT III (with instructions), Wheel of Fortune Family Edition...all in good shape...Not a bad deal 11 games and 1 instruction book for $20.00...less than $2.00 per game.
The last sale we stopped at had a Sega Genesis 3 system with 2 controllers, power cords and the following games: Sonic 2, ESPN Baseball Tonight, Aladdin, Desert Demolition, Lion King, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, Dr. Rototnik's Mean Bean Machine, Rocket Knight Adventures, Mickey Mania and Road Rash...all of this for $5.00. I know nothing about sega games, but I thought it was a great price and the girl selling them said her husband was making her get rid of it..."get rid of the old so she could get some new..." but she said she was really sad about selling it...
After 2 or 3 weeks of garage saling in the rain and finding NOTHING... I was really happy after todays finds...:-)
Had yesterday off so we did a few garage sales and came up totally empty. I am thinking it is going to be a crappy year, especially since the weather just does not want to cooperate.
Today it rained, but we did manage to find 2 local sales. The first one had nothing of interest to me, there were some computer games, but I know nothing about them. The second had no games but did have a NES toaster with 2 controllers and plug. There was no price on it so I asked and the woman said 15.00, then changed it to 12.00...better for me...there was also a sega game gear with plug for 8.00. I asked if she would take 15.00 for both and she said 17.00, so I got both for 17.00. I did ask if they had any games or instructions or boxes but they said no. They didn't even know where the systems came from. When I put them in the trunk my husband asked if I had looked inside to see if there was a game in it or not, but I hadn't because they probably would have raised the price if there was one. So, after we got home I checked inside the NES and guess what...there was a Super Mario Bros 2 in beautiful shape inside!!!!!!!!!! SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, the garage sales have not been too great so far this year, of course the weather hasn't been cooperating much either. One sale I stopped at this weekend, I asked if they had any Nintendo games and this girl says "my brother has games, he has every Nintendo game they made but he isn't selling them". So I said that was about 600 games...and she says "yeah, he has at least that many." I just walked away...sometimes I don't think people know what they are talking about. So needless to say I found no games at any garage sales the past couple weekends...but...the flea market was pretty good to me this weekend.
We have a very small local flea market, if there are 30 vendors there, it's a good day. So needless to say, it is usually the same people with the same stuff every Sunday, but I try to go anyways because you just never know. So the first table I stopped at is a guy who has only been there a few times before and he doesn't really have much of anything, but this time he had a box that was covered by a couple other boxes that caught my attention...it was an Odyssey 2 box...not in excellent shape but not bad condition, so I pulled it out and opened it up. I know nothing about this system and games, but I look it over and ask how much it is. It has the system and controllers and 8 games: Take the Money and Run (cart only); Hockey/Soccer; Alien Invaders-Plus; Football; Speedway/Spin-Out; Armored Encounter/Sub Chase; and K.C. Munchkin! all CIB and in great shape, plus the owners manual and a boxed Conquest of the World. The only thing missing was the power plug. The guy said he was asking $15.00 for all of it. I know nothing about this system and since it was missing the plug I told him I would think about it...stupid right...so I get half way down the row of tables and decided I better go back and get it or I would probably kick myself if someone else grabbed it. So I go back and tell him I will take it and could he hold onto it so I wouldn't have to carry it all around, so I hand him a $20.00 and he doesn't have any $5.00's so he gives me back $10.00 and says he will just take $10.00 for it since it's missing the plug. Not bad if you ask me. So he hangs onto the box until I go through the rest of the tables.
I ended up finding a game shark for Nintendo 64 and GBA game Dead to Rights (CIB) both $2.00 each. Then at another table which usually has sports Sega games, he had a few different ones for a chang that he wanted $2.00 each for so I chose the following: Jungle Strike; Mutant League Hockey; and Saturday Night Slammasters and ask if he will take $5.00 for the 3 games and he said yes.
So I got all of the above for a grand total of $19.00, which I think was a GREAT deal...what do you think?
