New toy for the kid

So about a year and a half ago I came across an instructable for a NES beltbuckle/noisemaker.  I thought it was cool, so I ordered the little six button thing and it has been sitting ever since.  Today I was playing battlekid, and my son (currently 10 months) was fixated on the controller and kept trying to steal it out of my hands.  Then I remembered this little thing I picked up.  So, needless to say, I put'er all together and now my kid can play all he wants without disturbing daddy (plus he still gets the sound effects).

Every button has an effect except start and select. In the bottom picture, I haven't installed the batteries yet (which took the longest), but they go into the area that has been ground away.

So far, my wife and I have had more fun with it than my son lol.

  • Wow, awesome dude!!! I would totally take that from my kid and play with it too, lol
  • ^^ agree. Very cool dude.
  • If anyone was interested, this is the instructable where I got my inspiration. I did things a lot differently (perhaps more difficult?), but the end result is roughly the same.
  • That's great. Get them started young.
  • That controller mod is freakin' sweet! You totally have to hook me up with one, my 1st child is due in July so you have time, lol.
  • Yeah, I saw that tutorial a while ago. That's great that you adapted it to a toy for your kid. Nice!

If you can find a similar keychain, I'd make you one.  Seems like it is discontinued though.
  • Prolly so, never seen one before.  If you did come accross one, I would be interested.
