Craigslist N64 Lot Price Check

Hi, I was thinking about purchasing this N64 lot on craigslist. This whole thing would be for reselling, so I wanted to see if it's a good deal or not. He's asking $100 for everything. The games worth mentioning are the following: Super Mario 64, Yoshi's Story, Super Smash Bros., Pokemon Stadium, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Zelda Majora's Mask, and Mario Tennis. He said a few others on the phone, but I think it was just NBA 2000 and Pokemon Snap. It also includes 4 controllers, one being the purple transparent one, and another being the extreme green one. Let me know what you guys think. Also, here's the link:

  • Are you buying all the stuff(NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast) for $100 or the N64 stuff for $100?
  • The N64 stuff for $100. I asked about the SNES stuff, and he said he wanted $90 for all the games and $40 just for the console. I don't think I'll take that one.
  • Major rip off especially if you are looking to resell it. I was thinking $100 for all the stuff in the add, that would be a sweet deal. I would give him $50 tops but try for $40. You could sell the N64 for $25ish. Maybe sell the games for around $50ish. This guy is trying to sell you stuff for ebay prices which is a no go. Just use ebay for that.

EDIT - when selling on ebay you have to take into consideration the ebay fees which are around 10% so whenever people are selling stuff on CL or other places I always tell them this so they know that they need to drop the price 10% minimum.
  • Alright, thanks for the advice. It's hard to offer half of what he's asking over the phone because he's bound to get pissed. I think I'll send him an email with the offer image.

Honestly I don't think he would get pissed, and if he does trust me you don't want to deal with him. Any reasonable person will listen to logic. Any time I pick up a lot to resell I am straight up. I tell them I only want a couple of the games but will buy the whole lot to resell it. I tell them that if it's not going to be worth my time I am not going to do it. If they don't agree, I don't buy their games plain and simple. You always have to consider the value of your time when you are reselling anything. $5 for an hour between pick up and driving to the post office is barely worth it. (and if it cost you $5 in gas you just wasted an hour of your life)

I agree with this statement fully. Even at the flea markets it seems that if your straight honest with people you get the best results. In some instances, in person, the people bend a little and are willing to sell you a few carts you want reasonable, while in other cases, you merely walk away and buy them from the next guy
  • Well, I just called him back and told him $50. He simply said no and told me to call him back if I was still interested. Oh well, maybe I'll get lucky if no one bites image.

For $100 I don't think you got much to worry about.

Even if no one bites, it's likely he'll just keep reposting it.  I've made offers on most of the ads in my area and I just see them come back around every week for the same insanely high prices.  These people are stubborn and it's hard to get them to budge sometimes.

Just don't get hung up on one deal and pay more for it than you want just cause your itching to pick some stuff up. There will be many more!

  • Yeah, some people you absolutely can't deal with. There's a dude on Craigslist in my area the responds to each and every one of my Wanted ads asking if I'll buy his Genesis. I offered him $20 one time, it only came with like 3 games and he wanted a lot more. Well a year later he still has his Genesis and is still sending out emails trying to sell it. There's no way that dude is going to sell that stuff at those prices, maybe he'll come to reason after it sits there for a few weeks/months/years. I got a few deals after shit sat on Craigslist for a few months and he got sick of it and just sold it to me. You never know.

When it comes to reselling, you don't get rich by stealing lots off craig's list because you tend to get greedy and tie up your money.  you make money by buying stuff quick and turning it around immediately.  In this case your looking at 13 N64 games for 100 dollars.  If you got them for 75 this would be a nice deal for many reasons.  Even if you sold the games off Ebay if you make a 120 dollars after fees that's not bad profit.  You have to ask yourself what is worth flipping.  I would say 45 bucks is worth the work for one listing.  If you put 2 hours of work into driving, collecting, paying, snapping pics and listing your making 20+ bucks an hour.
