  • damn wrong section
  • The ones in my erea went out about 2 and a half years ago.
  • All of ours are out...Movie Gallery stores are going out as well since they are owned by the same company. I cleaned out a couple stores but dropped the ball on the others. Its hurts because on the day of the last discount, they just close because my buddy buys out the rest of the store. The district manager just calls him...he dropped 13k on the last day. They still had tons of movies.
  • yeah, movie gallery is closing up here as well. apparently some good deals as well (just haven't made it there recently)
  • The Hollywood video where I live is in the process of shutting it's doors as well, but most everything was still higher than eBay prices even with the discount. I bought a nice disc resurfacing machine and a gigantic video game rack for ~$220, but that's about it. Redbox, Netflix and torrents are putting all of these mofos out of business.
  • THANKS for the headsup.....I'll have to visit my local store soon to see what they have. I know that they had several sets of those "Nex" Wireless NES controllers....but they don't come with the receivers image

    No kidding.

I thought the parent company went bankrupt at least 2 years ago.
  • I don't know if anyone is interested but they are selling their video game cases (most with manuals) for 50 cents each. I went ahead and bought about 80 or so of the top 360/PS3/Wii game cases. The clerk kind of looked at me with a puzzled look as to why I would buy so many considering they don't come with games.
  • I was gonna say ours have been disappearing for awhile now, the last one in my area just went no too long ago.
  • Is this the final sign of the end of all store front rental stores? I used love going to rental stores (12+ years ago), use to go when I did well on a test or something (plus always had dairy queen on our way back home). There was a certain charm in seeing rows and rows of resealed snes boxes where the colors are slowly fading.
  • Within the next few years, there won't be any more movie rental places. I just don't think they can hold on much longer, maybe some ma and pa's will hold out, but the major one's will be long gone before long.

A few weeks back I bought a bunch of shelving from a Movie Gallery in my area, sweet shelving for a sweet deal. They're selling most shelving for somewhere like $40 per 4' section. I picked out some shelving and made an offer, they gladly took an offer. I got one larger shelving unit (9' wide) and a 4' unit for $100.

I also picked out almost 50 horror movies and a few 360 and PS2 games. That total was only $55!!!! I was there on their second to last day of business and they were selling movies 6 for $5. What games where left where only a few dollars each!

Definitely hitting up the Movie places as the go out of business.
